- "Giant Shell" redirects here. For other uses, see Giant Shell (disambiguation).
- This article is about the list of gear in the original Nintendo DS version of Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story. For the list of gear in the remake, see List of Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey gear.
In Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, the gear mechanic is significantly different compared to its predecessors. There are several different gear types available: overalls, gloves, socks, boots, and accessories for Mario and Luigi, and shells, arm bands, rings, and fangs for Bowser. The maximum number of articles of gear that a character may equip is dependent on rank – three is the maximum, but two of a type of gear can never be equipped simultaneously. Since the function of badges has also been altered, most of badges' old functions are now applied to articles of gear.

2Rounded up.
3Also available via any Shop Block; certain things become available only when player defeats certain bosses.
4The drumsticks are taken from the inventory.
5These would be the "tiny" enemies Mario and Luigi battle formally, but Bowser simply knocks over.
