The Sport Bike is a Bike body that appears in Mario Kart 8. It resembles a bike which is used in the Moto GP. The Sport Bike has good acceleration and handling stats, but its weight and especially traction stats are poor. The character's logo is at the center of the front side, and there is another logo next to the exhaust pipe. It changes its varnish depending on its driver. It has the same stats as the Comet, the Yoshi Bike, and the Jet Bike.

Although this bike body is available to use right from the start, CPU players will never use it, thus it is a player exclusive bike. It is also the only starter vehicle with this feature. CPU racers will also never use any sport bike except the Comet where a CPU Mario will use it with the Slim tires.

Varnish types

The Sport Bike has three different varnish types. All three of these are used by multiple characters.

The first varnish is red and dark blue. A Bullet Bill sign and Chain Chomp Lettering are on both sides.

The second varnish type is green with white trim. It has advertisements for 1-Up Racing and Lemmy's Tire Service. A 1-Up Mushroom adorns the front of the bike.

The third varnish type is yellow and orange. It has signs for "Peach & Daisy Royal Pâtisserie","Princess Orange", and "Lemmy's Tire Service" on it.

On an additional note, the green and the yellow/orange varnishes for the Sport Bike greatly resemble the green and orange-yellow varnishes for the Circuit Special.

Trivia

  • The orange-yellow Sport Bike color scheme is used by all of the non-DLC female characters.
    • Donkey Kong is the only non-DLC male character who uses this color scheme.
    • Despite his shell color, Lemmy never uses this color scheme for his Sport Bike (or on his Circuit Special).
    • Excluding female Miis, Isabelle is the only female character who does not use the orange-yellow varnish for her Sport Bike. Instead she uses the green varnish. Isabelle is also the only female to use the green varnish (excluding female Miis), as all other characters that use it are male.
  • Excluding female Miis, The red-blue varnish is the only color to be used by only male characters.
    • Tanooki Mario is the only incarnation of Mario to not use this varnish color. Instead he uses the orange-yellow varnish.
