A Boo Barrel,[1] also named Ghost Barrel[2][3] (alternatively formatted as Ghost barrel),[4] is a ghostly type of Blast Barrel in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! and Donkey Kong Land III with a distinct behavior of vanishing and reappearing every few seconds, similarly to the ropes of Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. Each Boo Barrel faces in a set direction, which it blasts Dixie and Kiddy to while pointed in the direction. The direction that a Boo Barrel faces is usually randomized, so therefore Kongs often have to time their entry just right to progress. Some Boo Barrels are hazardous obstacle, since they can only blast the Kongs into enemies, and therefore should be passed while invisible.

In Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!, the Boo Barrels appear only in the Kaos Kore level Creepy Caverns. They appear a little more often in Donkey Kong Land III, in three levels: Stalagmite Frights, Haunted Hollows, and Ghoulish Grotto.
