The Mini Toads are Toad toys sold by the Mario Toy Company. They appear in Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis.
The success of the Mario Toy Company's earlier toys, the Mini Marios, was so great that it allowed them to expand to sell other mini toys, including Mini Peach, Mini Toad, and Mini Donkey Kong toys as well.
Mini Toads are playable, but Special Kit 1 has to be unlocked first. There are also Fire Mini Toads.
Mini Toads appear again in the third installment Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again!. They can be unlocked for use in the main game and in the Construction Zone by beating Rooftop levels 1, 2, 3.
The Mini Toads are set to reappear in Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem!. They will be playable as in the other games of the series. However, a key difference is that the spots on the Mini Toads' heads are shown to be blue instead of red in this game, giving them a coloration very similar to Blue Toad.
Trivia
- Strangely, they are the only Mini Toy without a wind-up key and legs.
- In Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again!, however they do have a wind-up key.
- The Mini Toads are revealed to be blue in color in Mario vs. Donkey: Mini-Land Mayhem!. The reason for this could be so players do not get confused between the Mini Mario and Mini Toad toys during gameplay (ie they both originally shared the red, white and blue color pattern).
