Template:Racecourse Shy Guy Falls is the fourth and final course in the Flower Cup of Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. It takes place in a cliffside area with two waterfalls. Shy Guys can be seen mining throughout the course while players drive up and down on waterfalls in an anti-gravity section. While in the mine section between the waterfall and the finish line, the Shy Guys can be heard using pick axes and singing along to the music. There are fifty coins located on this track.

Course layout

The course begins in a crystal mine created by Shy Guys. After a left turn followed by a right turn, an anti-gravity section begins, which turns the course sideways. This is followed by a jump over the first waterfall, and a left turn onto and up the second waterfall, where there are many Dash Panels. The track then turns into a wooden path and makes a left turn onto and down the first waterfall. After driving down the waterfall, there is a gliding section leading to the next part of the track. If the player pulls their glider up, a higher path can be taken, which then jumps back to the main path. After, the track turns slightly to the left, through a small mine where the Shy Guys are working, then to the right, and is followed by two jumps. After the jumps, the player makes a right turn which leads to the finish line.

Around the part where racers drive down the waterfall, Piranha Plants using their appearance and animation from N64 Royal Raceway can be seen, but are purely aesthetic.

Shortcuts

  • Before the first waterfall, there is a turn that one can cut off if one uses a speed boosting item.
  • Before the finish line, one can cut off the final turn by using a Mushroom or a Star.
  • After the gliding section, the player can take a shortcut by boosting through some grass and taking a jump onto a path which then joins up with the main path.

Staff ghost

The staff ghost for this track is Shy Guy on the Flame Rider, with a time of 2:19.528. In Mario Kart 8 Deluxe 200cc, the staff ghost is White Yoshi with a time of 1:40.698.

Trivia

  • This was the only course in Mario Kart 8's Flower Cup not to be playable (or revealed) in the E3 2013 demo.
  • The Shy Guy chanting and mining are heard again in Wii Wario's Gold Mine.
  • There are at least five sets of waterfalls outside the bounds of the course that can be seen in the distance, but they all seem to flow inward to the body of water beneath the course, with no outflow to outside the map. This must mean that there is some sort of sinkhole or drain to an underwater river beneath the course that cannot be detected.
