Artwork of Bowser, from Mario Kart 8.

All-Terrain Vehicles, shortened as ATVs (known as Quad bikes outside North America) are vehicles first appearing in Mario Kart 8, alongside karts and bikes. They are four-wheelers in different colors and have features that differ from karts and bikes.

The basic model of the ATV for all characters is the Standard ATV, a motocross four-wheeler showing the character's emblem over the plate of the front and the sides of the rear. The color of a Standard ATV also changes, matching the character's custom color. So far, only three kinds of ATVs are available to use in the game.

Characters are able to perform wheelies if they use a speed boost, a unique aesthetic effect.
