Boo Barrels act the same as Blast Barrels except that they vanish and reappear every few seconds, like the ropes of Donkey Kong Country 2. Each Boo Barrel faces in a set direction, which determines where Dixie and Kiddy get blasted to. The direction they face upon appearing is usually randomized, and thus, the Kongs will often have to time their entry just right to progress. They are also sometimes hazardous obstacles, as they can blast the Kongs into enemies. Such Boo Barrels must be passed while invisible.

A Boo Barrel,[1] also named Ghost Barrel[2][3] (alternatively formatted as Ghost barrel),[4] is a ghostly type of Blast Barrel in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! and Donkey Kong Land III with a distinct behavior of vanishing and reappearing every few seconds, similarly to the ropes of Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. Each Boo Barrel faces in a set direction, which it blasts Dixie and Kiddy to while pointed in the direction. The direction that a Boo Barrel faces is usually randomized, so therefore the Kongs often have to time their entry just right to progress. Some Boo Barrels are hazardous obstacles, since they can only blast the Kongs into enemies, and therefore should be passed while invisible.

In Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!, the Boo Barrels appear only in the Kaos Kore level Creepy Caverns. They appear a little more often in Donkey Kong Land III, in three levels: Stalagmite Frights, Haunted Hollows, and Ghoulish Grotto.
