Appears in The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! ("The Ten Koopmandments") (1989)

The Ten Koopmandments are a pair of stelae erected by Koop Tut, appearing in The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! episode "The Ten Koopmandments". Inscribed on the stelae are the titular Koopmandments, which are as follows:

  • Koopmandment #1: Thou shalt give Koop Tut all your gold coins.
  • Koopmandment #2: Thou shalt hire no plumbers.
  • Koopmandment #6: Thou shalt eat no pasta.

It is unknown what the other Koopmandments are, as Mario becomes offended after reading the sixth Koopmandment, claiming that Koop Tut has gone too far.

At the beginning of the episode, Mario and his friends arrive in Pyramid Land on camels and come across the Ten Koopmandments. After the group reads the Koopmandments, the Princess notes that they have to free the Mushroom People from the Koopmandments, and the group heads off to a nearby Mushroom village.

Naming[edit]

The Ten Koopmandments are a parody of the Ten Commandments, a set of religious and moral imperatives which, according to the Old Testament of the Bible or the Hebrew Bible, were twice given to or dictated by God to Moses on Mount Sinai and inscribed on two stone tablets.
