A Medal of the Double Cross is a prestigious award given to members of the Koopa clan for outstanding acts of evil. The medals appear in The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! episode "The Bird! The Bird!", when King Koopa bestows some Medals of the Double Cross to his Albatoss minions for having apparently buried Mario and his friends in a landslide caused by them dropping Bob-ombs on the mountain they were climbing. However, when a Flurry informs him that the Mario Bros. survived the avalanche, he immediately swipes the medals away from the Albatosses before proclaiming that he must lead the next attack on the Mario Bros. himself.

The Medal of the Double Cross is named for the fact that it prominently features two gold crossbones resembling crosses on a gold circle, as well as being a pun on the word "double-cross," referring to act of betrayal. It also features a golden "K" in the middle of the circle, the "K" standing for "Koopa," referring to his minions' alliance with him.
