The Temple of Hercufleas[1] is a temple located in Mythis that appears in the episode "The Fire of Hercufleas" from The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!. The temple is guarded by Hercufleas, and the location possesses the Great Balls of Fire.
In the episode, Mario and his friends arrive at the Temple of Hercufleas, to find Hercufleas himself, as he is both a legendary hero and an old friend of Toad's. Luigi then notices Mouser in a chariot run by Ostros. Mario gets the idea of disguising himself and his friends as the temple's statues. The plan works, as Mouser does not notice the heroes, but he is still suspects they are in Mythis, and reports to King Koopa.
Afterwards, Mario and his friends arrive inside of the temple upon climbing a long set of stairs. They are met with an out of shape Hercufleas who informs Toad that he has retired from being a hero, and now has a job as the official guardian of the Great Balls of Fire. Upon demonstrating, one of the Fireballs creates a hole in the temple's wall, and Hercufleas states that his job is to prevent the Great Balls of Fire from getting into the wrong hands.
Later, Beezos arrive at the temple and steal the Great Balls of Fire. As Hercufleas chases after them, one of the Beezos ties his legs up causing him to fall down the temple's stairs, and crash into the statue of his likeness. Some time later, after Mario and Luigi unsuccessfully attempt to get the Great Balls of Fire back from King Koopa, they then consult the help of Hercufleas, who is still hesitant of stopping King Koopa due to his shape, and because he has the Great Balls of Fire. But Mario assures that he and his friends could coach him back into health. At first, Hercufleas' training is unsuccessful, as he struggles to climb up the temple's stairs, perform chin-ups, and perform jumping jacks. However, he eventually gets back into shape, and succeeds are the aforementioned exercises.
After defeating King Koopa and reviving the Great Balls of Fire by using Super Toad's fire power, a new statue is placed next to Hercufleas' in front of the temple; said statue barring Toad's likeness.
