Castle Koopenstein[1] is a tall castle located in the Swiss Cheese Alps that appears in The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! episode "Koopenstein", and is ruled by Dr. Koopenstein.

The castle sits on top of a tall Swiss cheese-like rock stairway, and houses a laboratory where Dr. Koopenstein is seen working on a Monster Robot Troopa; all he needs to complete the monster is a brain, and his henchman, Mouser's is not smart enough for the monster. Mouser informs Koopenstein that Mario and his friends are in the village of the Swiss Cheese Alps, and are heading to the castle to put a stop to his plans.

Mario knocks on the front door stating they had come to fix the castle's plumbing, to which a Shyguy guard declines, and leaves the group outside. Toad then suggests he could climb up the castle's wall, and let his friends in. While he is busy climbing the castle's wall, Mouser finds Mario, Luigi, and Princess Toadstool and threatens to put their brains in the Monster Robot Troopa's body. Toad eventually climbs the wall, but is then surrounded by Shyguys, Piranha Plants, and an Autobomb. In the laboratory, Mouser brings Mario and his friends to Dr. Koopenstein, who congratulates him for their capture, and starts to transplant the Mario Brothers' brains into the Monster Robot Troopa.

After Toad defeats the Shyguys by using a Piranha Plant's fire to light the wick of the Autobomb, he continues climbing the wall while more Shyguys follow him while walking atop it. He reaches the top of the castle and finds a skylight, where within the laboratory, Princess Toadstool tells Koopenstein to leave Mario and Luigi alone after knocking Mouser aside. Koopenstein sarcastically asks if Toad would help her, in which Toad breaks through the skylight, and stomps on Koopenstein's head. Afterwards, the doctor chases after Mario and Luigi when Princess Toadstool frees them, but ends up crashing into Mouser, and landing in his own brain scanning chair where he becomes the Koopenstein Monster.

Later in the episode, Mario, Luigi, and Toad enter Castle Koopenstein to control the Monster Robot Troopa and ultimately defeat the Koopenstein Monster.
