"Bonus Game BGM",[1] also known as "Bonus Music",[2] is a musical theme composed by Koji Kondo for Super Mario World, where it plays in the bonus game minigame, Switch Palaces, and 1-Up Rooms. It is a playful arrangement of "Ground BGM" from the same game in the key of F major.

Super Mario series[edit]

Super Mario World[edit]

Super Mario World marks the first appearance of "Bonus Game BGM", and it returns in the port of the game included in Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World for the same purposes. It is also included in the official albums Super Mario World, Nintendo Super Famicom Game Music, Happy! Mario 20th - Super Mario Sound Collection, and The 30th Anniversary Super Mario Bros. Music.

In the Game Boy Advance remake of Super Mario World, Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2, an arrangement of "Bonus Game BGM" plays for the same purposes as in the original game.

In Super Mario Galaxy and the Nintendo Switch ports, Super Mario 3D All-Stars and Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2, an arrangement of "Bonus Game BGM" plays when collecting the notes in the Deep Dark Galaxy secret room in the mission "Bubble Blastoff".

Super Mario Galaxy 2[edit]

In Super Mario Galaxy 2 and the Nintendo Switch port, Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2, the Super Mario Galaxy version of "Bonus Game BGM" plays when collecting the notes in the Puzzle Plank Galaxy.

Super Mario 3D Land[edit]

In Super Mario 3D Land, the Super Mario Galaxy version of "Bonus Game BGM" plays when collecting the notes in several levels.

Super Mario Maker / Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS / Super Mario Maker 2[edit]

In Super Mario Maker, Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS, and Super Mario Maker 2, the original version of "Bonus Game BGM" plays whenever the "Bonus Music" sound effect is triggered in Super Mario World-style levels.

Super Mario Odyssey[edit]

In Super Mario Odyssey, an arrangement of "Bonus Game BGM" arranged by Shiho Fujii plays in some challenge areas. It is titled "Above the Clouds" in the game's sound test and the Nintendo Music app. It is also included in the official Super Mario Odyssey Original Soundtrack album.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder[edit]

In Super Mario Bros. Wonder, the original version of "Bonus Game BGM" plays in the level Break Time! Wonder Token Tunes. It is titled "Break Time! Tunes 1" in the Nintendo Music app. After clearing the level, the ending thirteen notes of "Bonus Game BGM" are played on the glockenspiel as coins appear at the corresponding note positions on the staff, with the final note being a Wonder Seed.

In Paper Mario, a brief arrangement of "Bonus Game BGM" is incorporated in the theme that plays during the staff credits approximately 42 seconds in. The entire theme is titled "Victory Parade" in the official Paper Mario Game Music Soundtrack CD album.
