- “There is a dramatic climate change in World 5, where warm weather makes way for a frosty, snow-covered landscape. Mario has to deal with super-slick ice patches, chest-deep snow banks and rolling snowballs in this winter wonderland.”
- —Official website
World 5 is a world encountered in New Super Mario Bros. This world is predominantly snow-themed, and features many Warp Pipes, so the player can complete this world without playing every single level. As usual, this world has a tower, in which Bowser Jr. is fought, and a Ghost House. It has a total of thirteen exits. Broozers, Snow Spikes, Snailicorns, Spike Tops, Buzzy Beetles, and Moneybags are the enemies first encountered here. Petey Piranha is the boss of World 5, and defeating him allows access to World 6, or World 7 if the player defeats Petey Piranha as Mini Mario. World 5 can be skipped by taking the Warp Cannon in World 3 or World 4 to go to World 6 or World 7, respectively, which is unlocked by taking the secret exit in World 3-
Ghost House or World 4-
Ghost House, respectively.
