Nintendo Desktop Manager is a desktop customization application based on the Object Desktop Light Edition, a cut-down version of the Object Desktop software suite, licensed from Stardock and released by Nintendo of Europe in 2002[1] to Nintendo VIP 24:7 members who registered their Nintendo GameCube or Game Boy Advance SP on the company's website.[2] It combines the functionalities of WindowBlinds, IconPackager, DesktopX and WinStyles to a single program using themes based on various Nintendo games and systems. Among those were Mario Kart: Double Dash!! and Super Mario Sunshine themes.

Each theme provided a new background for the user's desktop, in addition to replacing select icons with something related to the game or system. For the Super Mario Sunshine theme, the "My Computer" icon was replaced with Mario's head, The icon for the Norton software application was replaced with a Shine Sprite, and the taskbar was given a yellow border. Additionally, the icons for the user's external drives were modified to also feature Shine Sprites next to them, in addition to select drives being emblazoned with a Shine Sprite. One of the drives also appears to be emblazoned with Mario's face. The "Control Panel" icon was also modified and now depicts FLUDD, and the "My Network Places" icon now depicts a red Toad. The "Network Connections" icon now depicts a Shine Sprite, and the "Run..." icon depicts Mario running. Additionally, the Internet Explorer icon depicts a Shine Sprite, the Outlook Express icon depicts Toadsworth holding a letter, and the "Renegade" icon depicts a scaled-down version of Mario's artwork from Super Mario Sunshine.
