Momma's Payback is a Main Quest in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, located on the planet Barrendale Mesa. It is the second Main Quest in Barrendale Mesa, after It's an Ill Wind that Blows.
History[edit]
After the heroes cleansed the first Darkmess Tentacle at the Windmill area, the windmill functions normally again, removing the electric storm and providing power to Momma's Garage. The heroes return there, so that they can get the Shield Buster from Momma to destroy the barrier around Cursa's stronghold. When they arrive, they discover that one of Cursa's Spark Hunters, Daphne has taken over, and has captured the real Momma. She then causes a Darkmess Tentacle to rise up out of the ground, causing everyone to fall into it. The heroes must then defeat Daphne in a battle.
After the heroes defeat Daphne, Cursa arrives and tries to stop the heroes, but Rosalina temporarily breaks free, and creates a portal for everyone to escape. Cursa then overtakes Rosalina again, causing Rabbid Rosalina to become more determined than ever to save Rosalina. Back at Barrendale Mesa, the heroes find a crystal that symbolizes Rosalina's bravery. JEANIE then tells the story of how Cursa became:
After the Megabug was defeated, a fragment of it remained, floating through space. It merged with stellar debris, and became sentient, desiring to grow, thus becoming Cursa. At the Comet Observatory, some Rabbids that were floating by played with the Lumas, as well as with Rosalina herself. Cursa was then drawn to the Comet Observatory, intrigued by the powerful energies emitted from the Lumas' joy. Rosalina could not sense its arrival until it was too late. Rosalina then put herself between the Rabbids, Lumas, and Cursa, in order to protect the former two. As a result, the Rabbids and Lumas were saved, but there was an enormous blast of energy, sending them flung far away, merging with each other, creating the Sparks. Cursa had merged with Rosalina, however she was rebelling against Cursa. In order to crush Rosalina's will once and for all, Cursa needed to gather the Sparks and absorb their energy. Cursa then created an army of corrupted Rabbids, as well as hypnotized minions of Bowser, as well as the Spark Hunters, in order to capture the Sparks. Despite this, Rosalina does not fear Cursa, and knew that she could count on Mario and his friends to stop Cursa.
Momma then creates the Shield Buster for the heroes, and tells them that they have hope, and must stick together to save Rosalina, as well as defeating Cursa.
