"Fawful and Cackletta"[1] is a musical theme composed by Yoko Shimomura for Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, where it plays during the first boss battle against Cackletta, as well as the second boss battle against Fawful (albeit only in the Japanese version of the game).

History[edit]

All subsequent arrangements of this theme were also arranged by Yoko Shimomura.

Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga[edit]

Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga marks the first appearance of "Fawful and Cackletta".

An arrangement of the first half of "Fawful and Cackletta" plays during cutscenes involving Fawful, when the S.S. Chuckola heads out to sea, and before the boss battles against Chuckolator and Trunkle. It is titled "Fawful Music" in the Nintendo 3DS remake's sound test.

A much slower-paced arrangement of the second half of "Fawful and Cackletta" plays during cutscenes involving Cackletta. It is titled "Cackletta, the Fiercest Foe" in the Nintendo 3DS remake's sound test.

"Fawful and Cackletta" and "Fawful Music" are also included in the official album Mario & Luigi RPG: Sound Selection.

Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions[edit]

In the Nintendo 3DS remake of Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions, arrangements of "Fawful and Cackletta", "Fawful Music", and "Cackletta, the Fiercest Foe" all play for the same purposes as in the original game. They are titled "Fawful and Cackletta DX", "Fawful Music DX", and "Cackletta, the Fiercest Foe DX" respectively in the game's sound test. "Fawful and Cackletta DX" also plays during the second boss battle against Fawful in all regions, as well as in the level Believe in Bowser in Minion Quest: The Search for Bowser.

Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey[edit]

In Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey, the Nintendo 3DS remake of Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, a slower-paced, more sinister-sounding arrangement of "Fawful and Cackletta" plays during the boss battle against Dark Fawful, replacing "Tough Guy Alert!" from the original game. It is titled "A Fateful Clash!" in the game's sound test.
