Template:Location-infobox Lake Lapcat is an archipelago dedicated to cats found in Bowser's Fury. It is the setting of the entirety of the mode (besides the brief introduction cutscene, which is set in the Mushroom Kingdom until Mario falls through a black portal to Lake Lapcat). It is an open-world, colorful and cat-themed kingdom mainly inhabited by various colored kittens. To match this theming around cats, nearly all of its elements, including trees, shrubs, flowers, signs, enemies, archways and even rainbows and the sun, are modified to include feline features.

Lake Lapcat has a grayish-blue main color scheme, similar to that of the Lake Kingdom from Super Mario Odyssey. These colors are also used by many of the area's walls, pillars, and windows. On some walls and ledges, cat-based hieroglyphs can be spotted.

Lake Lapcat is home to a unique power-up, the Giga Bell, which sits on a pedestal. There are only three in the entire archipelago, each of which correspond to a set of four islands that share a similar visual theme.

While Fury Bowser is active, the sky becomes dark and the kingdom rainy, along with some Fury Spikes being plunged into the ground and walls, some of which have Mushroom Trampolines on them. These platforms modify the terrain, and Mario is able to jump onto them, sometimes allowing him to reach higher places.

Islands

Lake Lapcat is split into multiple different islands. Every island contains a lighthouse that is covered in goop. By collecting the first Cat Shine of the island, the goop will be removed and the lighthouse's light will get rid of the goop nearby.[1] Every island contains five Cat Shines that can be collected. Three of these are obtained through unique challenges (though some are reused between islands), one of these is obtained by collecting the five Cat Shine Shards around the island, and another of these is hidden behind a set of Fury Blocks somewhere on the island that Fury Bowser can destroy with his attacks. Every four islands surround a Giga Bell that is initially unusable but can be restored by collecting a certain number of Cat Shines which increases as the game progresses.

Cat Shines

In addition to the ones found on the islands themselves, there are also 35 individual Cat Shines scattered around Lake Lapcat as a whole. While they are each counted individually and labeled as being from Lake Lapcat, they are usually found within a certain Giga Bell sector. Some are initially covered in black goo, making them unaccessible until a nearby lighthouse is lit up, removing the goo.

Collectibles

A Cat Shine

Lake Lapcat features Cat Shines, collectibles that are scattered throughout the kingdom, similarly to Power Stars, Shine Sprites and Power Moons of other games. These shines are used to awaken the power of the Giga Bells once enough have been collected. The lighthouses on each island are cleansed of goop once the first Cat Shine on that island is collected. Five Cat Shine Shards also appear per island, which give a Cat Shine once they are all collected. Plessie Medals appear in various locations on the lake and grant Cat Shines if they are collected fast enough. Coins also appear throughout Lake Lapcat.
