The Super Mario Bros. Movie (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)

If anything, the movie theme just sounds like a generic Jaws parody, and the big hits don't even match. The likelihood that this is an intentional reference is extremely low, because no other Paper Mario (or Mario RPG) tune is referenced at all in this soundtrack. Given that, if they were to pick one of the themes from the RPG outings, why would they go with a random Buzzy Beetle theme?)

The Super Mario Bros. Movie (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) is the soundtrack for The Super Mario Bros. Movie containing tracks from the film's score composed by Brian Tyler. The score incorporates around 130 unique songs from previous games in the Mario franchise,[1] under the supervision of long-time series composer Koji Kondo. An Ali Dee cover of the Mario Brothers Rap from The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! and "Peaches", a song performed by Jack Black as Bowser in the film, also appear in the soundtrack, though other licensed vocal songs featured in the film are not included.

Aside from arrangements of previous Mario songs, the tracks "Super Mario Bros. Opus", "Press Start", "Plumbin' Ain't Easy", "2 Player Game", "The Plumber and the Peach", "World 1-1", "Lost and Crowned", "Rumble in the Jungle", "Karts!", "Rainbow Road Rage", "Fighting Tooth and Veil", "The Super Mario Brothers", "Bonus Level" and "Level Complete" all contain arrangements of a new original melody created for the movie. This melody is also heard in the short composition that, while not in the soundtrack, plays after the logo appears at the end of the film.
