In Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, Mario and Luigi can collect Coins and items from floating yellow blocks, all throughout the Beanbean Kingdom. There are 4 distinctive types of blocks in the game:

• ? Block: The basic one, both Mario and Luigi can strike it at any time. Is also the only one that can have also items inside.
• Bros. Block: When struck by either Mario or Luigi, it will move in the direction of the arrow and change to the opposite brother's color and initial. When struck by that brother, it will move back to where it was and change again.
• Random Block: When hit, it will release a coin and either turn red and display an "M", signaling for Mario to hit it, or turn green and display an "L", signaling for Luigi to hit it. If the correct brother hits the block, another coin is released. It is random whether it changes between colors or stays the same color once hit.
• Rally Block: When struck, Mario and Luigi will face each other. One brother hits the block for a coin, the number on the block changes to one and the Rally Block will slowly move toward the other brother. When possible, he should jump for another coin. The number will change to two and the process repeats. The block will start to accelerate. Can be hit up to 100 times but if a brother misses the block, it stops early. This process can be repeated two more time, for 300 Coins maximum.

There are a total of 260 visible blocks to be found. This page shows the locations of each one and how to get to them. Mario Bros.' House, Yoshi Theater and the Oho Ocean do not have any visible blocks at all.

Additionally, Mario and Luigi have only one chance to collect items from blocks in Toadtown Square, Koopa Cruiser, Chucklehuck Woods Underground (the cavern area just after defeating Chuckolator), Guffawha Ruins, and the S.S. Chuckola, as these areas become inaccessible after leaving them. Finally, the blocks inside the houses in Beanbean Castle Town are only available between returning to the town from Chucklehuck Woods Underground and reaching the end of Joke's End.

There are also 8 blocks that are seen but not counted here: 1 in Koopa Cruiser (Bowser Baddies demonstrate how Bros. Block works and never move away from the block) and 7 in Woohoo Hooniversity (3 are empty versions of Bros., Random and Rally Blocks and 4 are the from the older games (do not give out Coins and never become Empty Blocks)).

Toadtown Square

Toadtown Square - 2 Blocks (2 ? Blocks)
Above the larger hedge bush found above the left fountain. Contains Mushroom.		Above the south end of right hedge wall, right of the right fountain. Contains Mushroom.

Koopa Cruiser

Koopa Cruiser - 10 Blocks (9 ? Blocks, 1 Bros. Block)
In the second screen, under the Bowser Baddies demonstrating how Bros. Block works.		In the north of the third screen, containing Mushroom.
In the southeast of the same area, containing Mushroom.		Following 7 are only available after completing Joke's End: After electrifying the two Conductors in the second screen, a ? Block appears with five Hoo Beans in it.
In the third screen, it's in the ? Block in the south. Contains Super Mushroom.		After electrifying the three Conductors in the same area, a ? Block appears with five Hoo Beans in it.
In the fourth screen, it's in the ? Block in the north. Contains Super Nut.		Same area, it's in the ? Block in the southeast. Contains Ultra Mushroom.
Same area, it's in the ? Block in the southwest. Contains Super Mushroom.		After electrifying the three Conductors in the fifth screen, a ? Block appears with five Hoo Beans in it.

Stardust Fields

Stardust Fields - 23 Blocks (19 ? Blocks, 4 Bros. Blocks)
In the northeast of the Z-shaped path screen in the north, contains Mushroom.		In the southwest of the Z-shaped path screen in the north, contains Mushroom.
One screen to the northeast of the Tolstar screen, on the right side, lower part. Contains singular Coin.		Same area, northeast of the previous one.
Two screens to the northeast of the Tolstar screen, at the west end of the stairs. Contains Coins.		Same area, in the ? Block above the small bump in the southwest. Contains Mushroom.
Same area, right of the previous one. Accessed by Bike Pads.		Three screens to the northeast of the Tolstar screen, in the ? Block in the southwest. Contains Syrup.
Same area, in the ? Block in the northeast. Contains Mushroom.		Same area, in the ? Block in the northwest. Contains Syrup.
Three screens to the southeast of the Tolstar screen, on the platform to the east. Contains Coins.		Same area, on the northeast platform. Right block contains Syrup, left a Coin.
Same area, near the exit.		One screen to the southeast of the Tolstar screen, on the second-to-last platform. Contains Coins.
Same area, at the west end, next to the start of duffel bag stairs.		Same area, at the high platform accessed by Bike Pads. Contains Coins.
Following 4 can be collected only after learning High Jump and going to previously visited areas: One screen to the northeast of the Tolstar screen, on the high area. The left one contains Mushroom, right one Coin.		Same area, on the northern end of the high area. Contains Coins.
Two screens to the northeast of the Tolstar screen, at the end of the east platform above the Bike Pads. Contains Coins.		In the cave between Stardust Fields and Hoohoo Village, in the ? Block on the high platform in the north. Contains Mushroom.

In the area with entrance to Mysterious Mine Carts cave, in the southwest corner.		In the screen to the right of the mine cart entrance. Left and right blocks contain Mushrooms and the middle one Syrup.
Same area, right of the previous three. Contains Syrup.		In the area after exiting the second Mysterious Mine Carts cave, in the southwest corner. Upper block contains Mushroom, lower one Nut.
From the screen to NW Beanbean Outskirts, go north one screen. In the left one is Syrup, in the right one is Mushroom.		Same area, above the left one.
From the screen to NW Beanbean Outskirts, go north two screens. The item is in the ? Block in the west. Contains Mushroom.		Following 6 are accessible only after getting Super Hammers: In the cave to the north of the base area (accessed from Hoohoo Village), in the northwest corner.
Same area, in the southwest corner. Left one contains Super Mushroom, right one Coins.		Same area, under the second bridge. Contains Coins.
Same area, near the southeastern exit. Contains Coins.		Under the tree after leaving the cave throught the SE exit. Contains Nut.
Following 4 are accessible only after getting Ultra Hammers: In the screen to the south of the Teehee Valley entrance, left and right blocks contain Mushrooms and middle one Syrup.		In the first screen from Teehee Valley, in the ? Block in the north. Contains 1-Up Mushroom.

Beanbean Castle

In the third screen, above the north platform. Left and right blocks contain Mushrooms and middle one Syrup.		In the second area to the right of the third screen. Both blocks contain Mushrooms.
In the room where Lady Lima was trapped, lower three blocks all contain Mushrooms.		Same room, upper two blocks. The left one contains Coins, the right one Syrup.

Chateau de Chucklehuck

Chateau de Chucklehuck - 5 Blocks (4 ? Blocks, 1 Bros. Block)
In the room where Popple and Rookie were fought, there is a opening in the northwestern corner. Inside said opening is a small room with 4 blocks. From left to right they contain Coins, Super Syrup, Coins and Super Nut.		In the room with the exit, above the crates in southwestern corner.

Chucklehuck Woods

Chucklehuck Woods - 37 Blocks (34 ? Blocks, 2 Bros. Blocks, 1 Random Block)
In the second screen from Chateau de Chucklehuck, in the ? Block above the big platform. Contains Mushroom.		Same area, there is a green pipe to the north. Blocks from left to right cointain Syrup, Coins and Mushroom.
In the fourth screen from Chateau de Chucklehuck, in the east hedge square. The upper ones contain Syrups, the lower one Mushroom.		In the Ankoopa screen on the path to the Winkle area. Going from bottom to top, blocks contain Refreshing Herb, 5-Coin and 1-Up Mushroom.
Two screens before the Chuckleroot there is an area to the right. The left one contains Coins, lower right one Refreshing Herb and the upper right one Mushroom.		Same area, found above the previous three.
In the screen to the left of Chuckleroot, in the ? Block above the northeast platform. Contains Refreshing Herb.		Same area, take the southeast path, and in the ? Block above the platform to the left of the door to the cave. Contains Syrup.
Go into the cave from the previous one. Blocks from left to right contain Coins, Mushroom and Syrup.		In the next cave area, in the southeast. Contains Mushroom.
Same area, in the north there are two sets of stairs. This block containing Coins is found at the top of the right ones.		In the third cave area, found in the lower part in the west. The left one contains Mushroom and right one Coins.
On the path to Mother Chuckalola, in the south. The lower one contains 5-Coin , upper one Mushroom.		Same area, where the path is split, in the ? Block on the west road. Contains Refreshing Herb.
Same area, in the ? Block in the north before the stairs. Contains 1-Up Mushroom.		In the second scene beneath Mother Chuckalola, both blocks contain Mushrooms.
In the third scene beneath Mother Chuckalola, in the ? Block in the southwest. Contains Mushroom.		In the last scene beneath Mother Chuckalola, in the southeastern corner. Both blocks contain Coins.
Following 5 are only available after Dash is learned: In the cave screen on the path to the Winkle area. Left one contains Coins, right one Mushroom.		Same area, near the exit.

In the scene accessed by a southeastern exit in the first scene. Found in the middle.		These three can be accessed only after getting Ultra Hammers: In the fifth screen to the northwest of the entrance screen. Going from upper left, blocks contain Super Mushroom, 1-Up Mushroom and Coins.

Little Fungitown

Joke's End

In the screen to the left of the first soup broth area. Upper left block contains Super Syrup, upper right Super Mushroom.		Two screens to the upper-left of the first soup broth area. Going from upper left to lower right, blocks contain Hoo Bean, Super Mushroom, Coins, Refreshing Herb and Hoo Bean.
In the room after going throught the right door in the first soup broth area.		In the next room to the left.
In the room below the first soup broth area. Both blocks contain Hoo Beans.		In the southeasternmost room on the third floor, in the ? Block. Contains Ultra Nut.
In the northeasternmost room on the third floor. Left one contains Hoo Bean, right one Ultra Mushroom.		In the room where Luigi must jump under yellow platform to propel Mario upwards, found above it to the left. Contains 10-Coin.
In the westernmost room on the third floor. Left one contains Ultra Mushroom, while right and upper ones contain Hoo Beans.		In the room to the northwest of the second soup broth area. Left block contains Ultra Mushroom and right one Hoo Bean.
In the room below the second soup broth area, found to the left of the fireplace.		In the middle of the upper part on fifth floor. Contains Ultra Mushroom
In the second floor room to the upper-right of the soup broth area, hitting the switch on the wall using the barrel from the fifth floor or from Luigi's path after the double-bridge causes a ? Block containing seven Hoo Beans to appear.		On the double-bridge where Mario and Luigi's separated paths are connected by green tiles, in the room above, extinguishing a lit candle after filling Mario with water from the fourth floor reveals a hidden block containing seven Hoo Beans in the room below the candle.

Bowser's Castle

Bowser's Castle - 21 Blocks (18 ? Blocks, 1 Bros. Block, 1 Random Block, 1 Rally Block)
In the entrance screen to the left. Contains Ultra Mushroom.		Same area but to the right. Contains Ultra Syrup.
In the first room of the Lemmy's area, found on a high platform to the west.		Before the door to Ludwig von Koopa's area, there is a path to the south. The item is in the ? Block there. Contains 1-Up Mushroom.
In the first screen on the path to Ludwig's area, it is in the ? Block there. Contains Ultra Syrup.		Between the entrance of Ludwig's area and the entrance of Roy's area, there's a cage in the north. The left block contains Ultra Syrup and right one Super Mushroom.
In the second screen on the path to Roy's area, in the northwestern corner.		In the third screen on the path to Roy's area. Left one contains 1-Up Mushroom, right one Ultra Mushroom.
To the right of the third screen on the path to Roy's area, above the left end of the ceilings. Left one contains Ultra Mushroom, right one Ultra Nut.		In the fourth screen on the path to Roy's area, left of the exit.
