Music Bashes, formerly referred to as Bouncing Notes,[1] are giant musical eighth notes encountered in Music Park from Mario Kart 7, Mario Kart 8, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. They are found in the last covered stretch before the end of the track and they bounce in tune with the melody, creating waves that causes drivers to jump. A trick can be performed when this happens. Anyone beneath Bouncing Notes when they land, however, is flattened. Three ticks, similar to the sound of a metronome, can be heard before they land. Bouncing Notes notably bounce faster on the third lap. In Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, smaller Bouncing Notes appear near the finish line as spectators of the race.
In Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit, Music Bashes (named as such in this game for the first time) appear on the course Music Broadway.
