I am from the Philippines. My personality usually relies in computer, video gaming and travel transportation. I usually play games involving Mario or Sonic and games in the arcade.

On many of my games, especially Mario Party and Mario Kart; I usually play matches with 4 human players and assign players certain characters.
On many of my games, I usually play matches with (mostly) 4 human players and assign players certain characters. In addition, character voices are what I love the best.

One of my best likes in video gaming history is Toad's voice in Mario Kart: Double Dash!! and Mario Party 7.

Note 1: Any Japanese content I own are indicated in the Japanese name instead of the English name (for example, if I own a Japanese Super Mario Bros. 2 game, it will be displayed as スーパーマリオUSA. As another example, if I own a Toad amiibo from Japan, it will be displayed as キノピオ).

Super Mario Maker Game Over.png|Being one life away from this screen on the last level of 100 Mario Challenge in Super Mario Maker can be a bad situation. Miss here, and you have to restart the challenge from the beginning!
Mario Sonic Sochi - Dream Curling End Scene.jpg|Though I prefer Amy's regular outfit much more, this one here isn't too bad.
MKAGP Time Out.JPG|The most time-outs I have done in a month was on November 2015, with 19 time-outs (17 from 4-player races).
MKAGP Time Out.jpg|It seems odd being able to win a single-player race while doing something like this in old versions of this game.
Arcade GP DX 4 Player Results.JPG|Having the camera disabled on the P4 cabinet when doing Mario Kart Arcade GP DX races is actually great, as it uses the selected character as the player's portrait (Toad in this case).
Arcade GP DX 4 Player Results.JPG|What kind of game option would allow this to happen in an arcade game?
Arcade GP DX Title Screen.JPG|Seeing this message is actually great, as doing a race with this message means that the player's portrait is the artwork of the selected character.
Mario Sonic Sochi Medley Mania Results Screen.jpg|I'm not sure what to say about this
MPITResultScreen.PNG|Currently, the number of 4-player games I have played in Mario Party: Island Tour is 4. This is the result screen from my 3rd game.
MP9ResultsScreen.PNG|I don't think a player should tie or win by just 1 point at all; it should continue until the margin is at least 2...
MP9ResultsScreen.PNG|A gamer's bad moment - missing 1st place by 1 point in a video game. (Toad beating Luigi by this much!)
CoinChallengeResultScreen.jpg|...unless it is not for 1st place (here, 2nd and 3rd place separated by 0).
Mario Kart Wii 8th Place.png|What a pity to see the player only finishing 8th, but at least Toad is in 1st place!
Mario Kart Wii 8th Place.png|The player is 8th, but Toad is 1st, which is somehow interesting.
SSB Game Over.png|Seemingly funny getting this screen - the music differentiates between all other Super Smash Bros. games.
Super Mario Bros 2 Game Over.png|The 2 continue limit seems odd when a continue sends the player back to the start of a world.
Mario Kart 7 Game Over.JPG|If you do Team Mode and lose while on the Red Team, the "Nice Try!" message is actually shown in red!
Mario Kart Arcade GP DX Text Error.JPG|I'm not sure why the language changed like that, as the English language was perfectly fine.
Super Mario Bros 2 Game Over.png|Well, this ain't cool if you can only continue twice in the NES version of Super Mario Bros. 2! More worse that a Continue sends you back to the start of a world.
Mario Kart 64 No Trophy.png|Well, this is a rare screen to get in the first 3 Mario Kart games, as you had to retry a race in these games if you finish 5th or lower in that race!
Toad Artwork - Mario Party 6.png|Seemingly like how this artwork made it to Mario Kart Arcade GP DX through an update.
NSMBW Toad.png|I like this artwork slightly more, as he is also featured in Mario Kart Arcade GP DX as well as in Mario Party: Island Tour.
Mario Kart Arcade GP DX Text Error.JPG|The funniest thing is seeing Japanese text in an American arcade game. Somehow, it does not occur in versions before July 1, 2015.

My Records
My Records
These are my records for various Mario games. Note that on games with handicap settings, I cannot use any of them for the records to qualify.
These are my records for various Mario games.
*Records only qualify if all of the following conditions are true:
**No handicaps used
**No stat-changing attributes for a character is used
**No save states/Restore Points used (if a game allows it)
**The run does not involve using glitches
**Easy Mode is turned off (in the case of arcade games in the Mario & Sonic series)
*Co-op records on games that only have versus play take account to the worst result by any player in the game.
**The order the scores are displayed on co-op records are from the worst score to the best score.
**Co-op records will only list games that involve simultaneous play (using multiple controllers or systems simultaneously).
*A notation will be provided next to the record if my actual best record differs from the record saved on the user profile.
*Time-based records will be displayed in the same format the original game uses. If multiple time formats are used in a single game, only the time format that is displayed in the result screen of a game will be used.

Diddy Kong Racing
*Note: This table will only show Car records set on T.T. mode. Also, all records are set on the NTSC version of the game.
**Diddy Kong Racing determines the player's times by tic count at 60 tics per second, despite the fact that the digits 2, 4, 7 and 9 can be shown in the hundredths place during a race.
**In the PAL version, times are measured at 50 tics per second, but there are errors with displaying the hundredths digit: a "2" is displayed as a "1", a "4" is displayed as a "3", a "6" is displayed as a "5", and an "8" is displayed as a "6".
**A player's final time is only visible in the Tracks mode in a 2-4 player race or in T.T. mode; all other modes do not show the player's final time.

Overall Standings (48-Space Games Only)
Standings are determined by a priority system in terms of the biggest or most amount of:
*Wins (amount of 1st place)
**Also counts ties for 1st with 2 or 3 players, but not 4 players
*2nd place
**Also counts 2-way ties for 2nd
**Does not count a 3-way tie for 2nd
*3rd place
**Does not count a tie for 3rd
*Draws
**The number of 4-way ties
*Losses (amount of last place)
**Also counts 3-way ties for 2nd and 2-way ties for 3rd
**Does not count 4-way ties
*Best Gap, determined by:
**Biggest margin of victory with a "+" sign, if character has won at least once
**Fewest spaces remaining to a win with a "-" sign, if character has never won
**If a character has won, but all victories were actually ties, this will be "0".
*If all 6 categories are tied, the position will be a tie unless one character was ahead of the other in the ranking prior to the tie, in which the character that was ahead before the tie occurred wins the tiebreaker.
The top 5 characters are:

Note: As of version 1.06, there is no timer on the in-game HUD, except when the time remaining is less than 10 seconds. However, time out stats using 1.06 will still count.
Game Errors
The most common error a cabinet will throw up is a wheel error, as I have seen that numerous times throughout 2018. Only "Please call an attendant." errors that occurred during a session that I was in or that were not caused by a wheel error will be listed below. Here, there are 2 occasions where I saw a "Please call an attendant." error in with the cause was not a wheel error:
#NamCam (Camera) error on September 30, 2016
#STR PCB link error on November 1, 2016
A race will be declared void and will not count on the below sections if at least one cabinet suffers a sort of error after the end of the pre-race countdown but before the last human player finishes or times out. For races that are not declared void despite this occurring, the number of cabinets that joined the game before this happened will be the number of players when determining which will be counted in the below sections.

Game Crashes and Errors
When I was in a race
I have seen the game crash with an error four times:
There are 2 occasions that a cabinet had showed up an error during a game that I was in:
*Once on August 14, 2016,
#On January 16, 2018 at 11:07 - Playing a 1 Player Grand Prix race with Yoshi at Bowser's Factory (M); at lap 3/3 in the race, the cabinet threw up a wheel error.
*Twice on September 26, 2016, and
#On May 2, 2018 at 14:33 - Was about to start a 2 Player race with two Marios at Kingdom Way (M); one of the cabinets had a wheel error in the loading screen.
*Once on September 30, 2016.
When errors like these occur, the game will crash with "Please call an attendant." All these crashes are the result of a "Wheel error", with the exception of the crash on September 30, 2016 where the result is a "camera error". Do note that game crashes are only tracked on this section, even if it happens during a multiplayer race and/or a time out is happening, or other conditions occur that would otherwise warrant a record on the below sections. As a result, the consequence of a game crash is usually the race being cancelled, regardless of other situations that may occur. All the "wheel error" crashes occurred during a race, while the "camera error" crash most likely occurred before the Select Character screen.

4 Player Races with Camera Disabled
4 Player Races with Camera Disabled
Some arcades disable the camera in the cabinets from being used. Sometimes, cameras from cabinets are disabled due to malfunctions. Here, it shows the number of 4 Player Races I did with a cabinet's camera being disabled.

Character Usage in Games
Since I use different characters for certain modes, I indicate which characters I most commonly play with for single player, multiplayer and in general for a specific game.
*Note 1: Games not listed in a particular category typically either do not support a character selection (or a way to change the player's character), do not support 4-player, or currently have insufficient information available.
*Note 2: These lists here are supposing that all characters in such games are unlocked (some games require the player to unlock characters before it can be played as). For the In General section only, <span style="color:red">red</span> text indicates that this character must be unlocked first.

Multiplayer
Multiplayer
Note: As Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games (Wii U) has characters exclusive to certain events, that game will have their own table on this section showing characters usually used in each event.
*Some games I play allow more than 5 human players to take part. These games will still have the characters that I use when playing with exactly 4 players; additional characters I may use are shown in another section.

*For arcade games and games where gaps between player numbers are allowed, the characters I would use may vary depending on which player number(s) I am using in the game.
18 of my games consist of P1 being Mario, P2 being Luigi, P3 being Yoshi and P4 being Toad; they are not listed here.
**Example 1: Tails and Amy would be the characters I would use in Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games Arcade Edition when playing using P2 and P4.
**Example 2: Mario and Yoshi would be the characters I would use in Mario Kart Arcade GP DX when playing using P1 and P3.
*Some common character sets I use in 4-player games are:
**Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Toad
**Daisy, Yoshi, Toad, Toadette
**Yoshi, Mario, Luigi, Peach
*However, it is common these days that I use a 3-character set, followed by a different 4th character.

Other character sets by game are shown below. Some games have no character set information.

For Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games (Wii U)
For games with 5 or more players
Note: To be updated. Also, team events and events that only allow 2 players are not listed.
Some games I play can have 5 or more human players simutaneously, and sometimes I take advantage of it. What is shown here is supposing that I have the neccesary equipment required to start a game with all these human players (games with * mean I was able to start a game with the maximum allowable players, otherwise the Players field will indicate the highest number of players I've had), and that each player can select a character.
*The most number of players I had in offline mode: 12 on April 27, 2018 (12 orbits)
**In a Mario game: 8 on February 26, 2015 (Super Smash Bros. for Wii U)
*The most number of players I had in wireless/LAN multiplayer mode: 16 on May 10, 2019 (Sonic Robo Blast 2 Kart)
**In a Mario game: 6 on June 4, 2017 (Mario Kart 7)
*The most number of players I had in an arcade session: 10 on July 11, 2015
Games that allow more than 8 players belong in its own section. Mario Kart: Double Dash!! picks characters randomly when playing in LAN mode (which is required for 5-8 players), so it is not in the list. Mario Party 10 also allows up to 8 players to play through the tournament mode, but as the maximum amount of simultaneous players is 5 and this number is only achieved in Bowser Party mode where the game forces Player 5 to be Bowser, that game is also not in the list. The list is as follows:

For Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
This game allows up to 12 human players to participate via LAN Play, but only up to 8 with Wireless Play (even in split-screen mode). Up to 2 players can play in one console in this mode, so a minimum of 6 consoles are required for a full 12-player room.
Currently, the most amount of players I ever had in this game is 6. The characters I would normally use for a 12-player game is as follows:
*Player 1: Mario
*Player 2: Luigi
*Player 3: Yoshi
*Player 4: Toad
*Player 5: Peach
*Player 6: Daisy
*Player 7: Wario
*Player 8: Waluigi
*Player 9: Bowser
*Player 10: Bowser Jr.
*Player 11: Rosalina
*Player 12: Toadette
For Sonic Robo Blast 2 Kart
This game allows up to 16 human players to play in LAN mode, by going into Multiplayer and selecting the "Internet/LAN (2-16 Players)" option in the Host A Game section of the multiplayer menu. The next steps vary depending on the update version:
*v1.2 and older: Ensure that Room is set to "LAN Mode".
*v1.3 onwards: Ensure that Advertise is set to "No".
Like Mario Kart: Double Dash!! and unlike Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, up to 4 players can play on one console in this mode, so a minimum of 4 consoles are required for a full 16-player room, although only a minimum of 3 consoles are required for a 12-player room.
While I have numerous different character sets for use in games of 5-15 players, only character sets used in a 16 player game will be listed here.

Revision as of 10:34, March 6, 2024

I am from the Philippines. My personality usually relies in computer, video gaming and travel transportation. I usually play games involving Mario or Sonic and games in the arcade.

On many of my games, I usually play matches with (mostly) 4 human players and assign players certain characters. In addition, character voices are what I love the best.

Games I Play

I usually play the following Mario games shown below.

Note: Games here are sorted by the 1st date of release. This also applies to the games in the Character Usage in Games section. Also, unless said otherwise, I generally own 1 copy of each game from retail stores in America. This list does not include games played using the application related to the Nintendo Switch Online service.

My Top 10

This shows my top 10 ranking of a particular group.

  • There is no score value listed for any of the entries in these lists.
  • In case of Minecraft, it refers to both Nintendo Switch Edition and Bedrock Edition.
  • The Mario Games list is accurate up to the release of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and may require major updating.
  • All character lists have been reworked from the ground up, compared to the order prior to the release of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Mario Characters

This list shows the top 10 Mario characters.

Non-Mario Characters

This list shows the top 10 non-Mario characters that are Nintendo characters, though they must make an appearance in a Mario game to appear here.

Non-Nintendo Characters

This list shows the top 10 non-Nintendo characters. These can only qualify if they have appeared in at least one Mario game; certain other characters would qualify here but do not meet the appearance requirements.

All Characters

This list shows the top 10 characters that appeared in a Mario game, regardless of whether the character is a Mario and/or Nintendo character or not.

These are 9 pictures that stand out the most.

Best Quotes

Here is a good selection of quotes from various games.

Amy

Quotes from games not in the Mario & Sonic series will still be shown here, but in red text.

  • "I did it!"
  • "That was easy!"
  • "That's right, I'm the best!"
  • "Yay me, I win!"
  • "Wow, I'm really good!"
  • "You're amazing!"
  • "All right!"
  • "That's not fair."
  • "Wow, I'm good!"
  • "Yay, I rock!"
  • "Just perfect!"
  • "I hate you! You guys always leave me behind and have all the fun!"
  • "Ooh, I hate it when they leave me behind!"
  • "We couldn't even impress Sonic like this..."
  • "Hey, no fair!"

Bowser

All of these quotes from Bowser are from Fortune Street

  • "GRRRROAR! Think you're pretty hot stuff, huh? Well, enjoy first place while it lasts!"
  • "Wrong, wrong, WRONG!! The game wasn't supposed to end like this!"
  • "Grr! Is this some kinda joke!? Why is every princess out to get me!?"
  • "WHAT!? Where's Mario? I bet this is all HIS fault!"

Toad

Waluigi

  • "What? No." - Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games (Wii)
  • "What's wrong with this thing!? You'd better do what I tell you to, die!" - Fortune Street
  • "I love being in last place! It just means I've got nothing to lose! Whee hee hee!" - Fortune Street
  • "No way, no way! Cheating baddie, go away! I can't let (Player's name) win today!" - Fortune Street

Wario

Others

My Records

These are my records for various Mario games.

  • Records only qualify if all of the following conditions are true:
    • No handicaps used
    • No stat-changing attributes for a character is used
    • No save states/Restore Points used (if a game allows it)
    • The run does not involve using glitches
    • Easy Mode is turned off (in the case of arcade games in the Mario & Sonic series)
  • Co-op records on games that only have versus play take account to the worst result by any player in the game.
    • The order the scores are displayed on co-op records are from the worst score to the best score.
    • Co-op records will only list games that involve simultaneous play (using multiple controllers or systems simultaneously).
  • A notation will be provided next to the record if my actual best record differs from the record saved on the user profile.
  • Time-based records will be displayed in the same format the original game uses. If multiple time formats are used in a single game, only the time format that is displayed in the result screen of a game will be used.

Diddy Kong Racing

  • Note: This table will only show Car records set on T.T. mode. Also, all records are set on the NTSC version of the game.
    • Diddy Kong Racing determines the player's times by tic count at 60 tics per second, despite the fact that the digits 2, 4, 7 and 9 can be shown in the hundredths place during a race.
    • In the PAL version, times are measured at 50 tics per second, but there are errors with displaying the hundredths digit: a "2" is displayed as a "1", a "4" is displayed as a "3", a "6" is displayed as a "5", and an "8" is displayed as a "6".
    • A player's final time is only visible in the Tracks mode in a 2-4 player race or in T.T. mode; all other modes do not show the player's final time.

Overall Standings (48-Space Games Only)

Standings are determined by a priority system in terms of the biggest or most amount of:

  • Wins (amount of 1st place)
    • Also counts ties for 1st with 2 or 3 players, but not 4 players
  • 2nd place
    • Also counts 2-way ties for 2nd
    • Does not count a 3-way tie for 2nd
  • 3rd place
    • Does not count a tie for 3rd
  • Draws
    • The number of 4-way ties
  • Losses (amount of last place)
    • Also counts 3-way ties for 2nd and 2-way ties for 3rd
    • Does not count 4-way ties
  • Best Gap, determined by:
    • Biggest margin of victory with a "+" sign, if character has won at least once
    • Fewest spaces remaining to a win with a "-" sign, if character has never won
    • If a character has won, but all victories were actually ties, this will be "0".
  • If all 6 categories are tied, the position will be a tie unless one character was ahead of the other in the ranking prior to the tie, in which the character that was ahead before the tie occurred wins the tiebreaker.

The top 5 characters are:

And the full standings are as follows:

  • Waluigi has identical records compared to Bowser Jr. Both characters played against each other on the same round that led to the two tying, but Waluigi was ahead of Bowser Jr. before the round, so Waluigi wins the tiebreaker for 15th.
  • Dr. Eggman is tied with Mii for 18th, which is unable to be broken as both characters played against each other on their first round.

  1. NamCam (Camera) error on September 30, 2016
  2. STR PCB link error on November 1, 2016

When I was in a race

There are 2 occasions that a cabinet had showed up an error during a game that I was in:

  1. On January 16, 2018 at 11:07 - Playing a 1 Player Grand Prix race with Yoshi at Bowser's Factory (M); at lap 3/3 in the race, the cabinet threw up a wheel error.
  2. On May 2, 2018 at 14:33 - Was about to start a 2 Player race with two Marios at Kingdom Way (M); one of the cabinets had a wheel error in the loading screen.

4 Player Races with Camera Disabled

Some arcades disable the camera in the cabinets from being used. Sometimes, cameras from cabinets are disabled due to malfunctions. Here, it shows the number of 4 Player Races I did with a cabinet's camera being disabled.

Note: Only races done with 4 players where at least one player was playing without the camera feature will count. In addition, it is not neccessary for a time out to occur for it to count. Currently, 0 races with a camera disabled have ended with no time out.

  • Note 2: In the 2016 update, it is unknown if there is a 250 second time limit, and it is not possible to time out in 1st place in 1-player mode.
  • Note 3: The December 18, 2018 update for Japanese cabinets causes VS races to end once a winner is declared. Races that reach this condition don't count as timing out.

Character Usage in Games

Since I use different characters for certain modes, I indicate which characters I most commonly play with for single player, multiplayer and in general for a specific game.

  • Note 1: Games not listed in a particular category typically either do not support a character selection (or a way to change the player's character), do not support 4-player, or currently have insufficient information available.
  • Note 2: These lists here are supposing that all characters in such games are unlocked (some games require the player to unlock characters before it can be played as). For the In General section only, red text indicates that this character must be unlocked first.

Single Player

Note: Fortune Street does not allow the human player to use the Mario or Dragon Quest characters in single player and online modes.

Multiplayer

  • Some games I play allow more than 5 human players to take part. These games will still have the characters that I use when playing with exactly 4 players; additional characters I may use are shown in another section.
  • For arcade games and games where gaps between player numbers are allowed, the characters I would use may vary depending on which player number(s) I am using in the game.
  • Some common character sets I use in 4-player games are:
  • However, it is common these days that I use a 3-character set, followed by a different 4th character.

Other character sets by game are shown below. Some games have no character set information.

Game P1 P2 P3 P4
Super Smash Bros. Kirby Link Pikachu Ness
Mario Party 3 Mario Luigi Peach Daisy
Super Smash Bros. Melee Ice Climbers Mewtwo Marth Roy
Mario Kart: Double Dash!! Mario & Luigi Peach & Daisy Wario & Waluigi Yoshi & Toad
Super Mario 3D World Mario Luigi Peach Toad
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Bowser Jr. Mewtwo Roy (Mario) Roy (Fire Emblem)

Mario & Sonic Series

All non-3DS Mario & Sonic games have one of these typical character sets:

London 3DS

The 3DS version of this game restricts characters to certain events. Here, the 20 characters split into 5 groups of 4; each event allows one group of characters to play it.

Group P1 P2 P3 P4
Heroes Mario Sonic Luigi Tails
Challengers Yoshi Shadow Bowser Jr. Silver
Girls Daisy Peach Blaze Amy
Wild Ones ? ? ? ?
Tricksters ? ? ? ?

For games with 5 or more players

Some games I play can have 5 or more human players simutaneously, and sometimes I take advantage of it. What is shown here is supposing that I have the neccesary equipment required to start a game with all these human players (games with * mean I was able to start a game with the maximum allowable players, otherwise the Players field will indicate the highest number of players I've had), and that each player can select a character.

  • The most number of players I had in offline mode: 12 on April 27, 2018 (12 orbits)
    • In a Mario game: 8 on February 26, 2015 (Super Smash Bros. for Wii U)
  • The most number of players I had in wireless/LAN multiplayer mode: 16 on May 10, 2019 (Sonic Robo Blast 2 Kart)
    • In a Mario game: 6 on June 4, 2017 (Mario Kart 7)
  • The most number of players I had in an arcade session: 10 on July 11, 2015

Games that allow more than 8 players belong in its own section. Mario Kart: Double Dash!! picks characters randomly when playing in LAN mode (which is required for 5-8 players), so it is not in the list. Mario Party 10 also allows up to 8 players to play through the tournament mode, but as the maximum amount of simultaneous players is 5 and this number is only achieved in Bowser Party mode where the game forces Player 5 to be Bowser, that game is also not in the list. The list is as follows:

Game Players P1 P2 P3 P4 P5 P6 P7 P8 Description
Mario Kart DS 8 (4) Mario Luigi Yoshi Toad Peach Daisy Wario Waluigi Achieved in Local Multiplayer.
Mario Party 7* 8 Mario Luigi Yoshi Toad Peach Daisy Wario Waluigi 2 Players share a controller as there are only 4 controller slots.
Mario Kart 7 8 (6) Mario Luigi Yoshi Toad Bowser DK Koopa Rosalina Achieved in Local Multiplayer.
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U* 8 Kirby Link Pikachu Ness Mario Luigi Yoshi C. Falcon Can connect up to 7 other controllers to play the 8-Player Smash mode.
Mario Sports Superstars 6 (4) Mario Luigi Yoshi Rosalina Peach Daisy - - The Horse Racing sport allows up to 6 human players.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate* 8 ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? One Nintendo Switch can allow 8 controllers.
Mario Strikers: Battle League* 8 Mario Luigi Yoshi Toad Peach Daisy Wario Waluigi One Nintendo Switch can allow 8 controllers. Cannot use Dual Joy-Con with 5 or more players.

For Sonic Robo Blast 2 Kart

This game allows up to 16 human players to play in LAN mode, by going into Multiplayer and selecting the "Internet/LAN (2-16 Players)" option in the Host A Game section of the multiplayer menu. The next steps vary depending on the update version:

  • v1.2 and older: Ensure that Room is set to "LAN Mode".
  • v1.3 onwards: Ensure that Advertise is set to "No".
