Ostriches are a real-life species of large flightless birds that appears frequently in the Super Mario franchise, first introduced in the Donkey Kong Country series with the Animal Friend named Expresso the Ostrich.
In Mario Kart World, Ostriches (though are not named in-game) are found in Faraway Oasis and the savanna region that the track surrounds. Ostriches run across the track and will cause racers to crash if driven into.
Ostriches reappear in Donkey Kong Bananza, although they are sapient and work as employees for the Eggshell Hotel found in the Forest Layer.
