The Jellyfish Sisters, Gigi and Merri are the owners of a relaxation center of Gwarhar Lagoon in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. When Mario & Luigi arrive at their relaxation center, the Jellyfish Sisters give them hand massages, and possess the powers of the Firebrand and Thunderhand. Gigi wears red while Merri wears green.
After Mario and Luigi learn their Firebrand and Thunderhand abilities, the sisters teach them two new moves: Dash and Tickle. The sisters then either ask the brothers to pay for their lesson at the price of 100,000 Beanbean coins or alternatively suggest that they find the twin Green and Red Pearl Beans, situated in the cave they are in. Mario and Luigi opt to retrieve the Pearl Beans to pay the sisters, using their newly learned Tickle to navigate the Rolling Bar Defense System. After the Mario Bros. give them the Pearl Beans, Gigi and Merri become so excited that they fall asleep, temporarily shutting down the Relaxation Room.

After Mario and Luigi learned their Firebrand and Thunderhand ability, the sisters teach them new moves to use with their techniques, such as being able to walk sideways or run quickly. The Jellyfish Sisters (Gigi and Merri) are two adult Kurako that own the Relaxation Room in Gwarhar Lagoon in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga and Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions. Gigi dons a red dress, while her sister, Merri, dons a green dress. Gigi's and Merri's names are likely derived from "Luigi" and "Mario," respectively. When Mario and Luigi arrive at their Relaxation Room, the Jellyfish Sisters give them hand massages, during which the Mario Bros. inadvertently perform their Firebrand and Thunderhand abilities. The Jellyfish Sisters are also able to fly—or, at least, glide—as they descend from the sky when they are introduced.

While the Jellyfish Sisters' faces are a bright light purple in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions, their faces are a blackish-blue.

Trivia[edit]

 • In the E3 2003 demo of Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, the Relaxation Room does not exist, and the Mario Bros. meet the Jellyfish Sisters in a different manner on the beach. Gigi and Merri both seem to seduce Luigi over to them, and when Mario shows that they have no effect on him, they offer to teach their abilities. Mario can say yes, and an unfinished version of the tutorial then commences, or he can say no and then slap Luigi out of his stupor. Additionally, they have darkened faces, as they and the other jellyfish do in the 3DS remake.[1]
