It appears in the center of the track, halfway through the course, partially submerged in lava. As racers drive towards it, it launches fireballs at the middle of the track that eventually explode. The racers then drive past Mecha Bowser on either side of it, as the track splits into two when it reaches Mecha Bowser.

It is behaviorally similar to the Bowser Statues in Mario Kart 64 and Mario Kart: Double Dash!! and the Bowser Monument in Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. In fact, it is physically identical to the one in Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, with the only difference being that it moves more fluidly.
