Sea Urchins[1] are large-eyed purple sea urchins and aquatic enemies in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and its Nintendo Switch port. Due to their spikes, the Kongs will take damage upon touching them. Sea Urchins can only be defeated by Cranky Kong's cane. They usually appear in groups, moving about individually or by the force of water currents.

Sea Urchins most often appear in levels of Sea Breeze Cove, although they first appear in Lost Mangroves' boss stage, Big Top Bop, where Pompy occasionally throws Sea Urchins onto the stage. When this occurs, the Sea Urchin bounces along the ground a few times before retreating back into the water. In Fugu Face-Off, the boss level of Sea Breeze Cove, Fugu spits out Sea Urchins as projectiles.

These enemies are not to be confused with other urchin-like balls encountered in the game. The appearance of those is closer to that of real life sea urchins, as they lack eyes and seem more rigid. They can only be destroyed when found above the water, such as in Rockin' Relics, using a Cane Bounce.
