Multiplayer message presets are short phrases that can be used in Super Mario Maker 2 to communicate with other players while playing or spectating a course in multiplayer via Network Play. The system is used in lieu of voice chat.

In a course, players can use Minus Button to open a panel of nine message presets. A message can be sent by selecting one of these presets. Messages are shown in the bottom-left corner of the screen. If enabled by the recipient, messages will be spoken aloud using the system's text-to-speech feature. Messages are spoken in the order they are sent.

Although only nine message presets are available in the panel at a time, they can be selected from a pool of 21 presets. These presets are as follows:

  • "Thanks!"
  • "Here we go!"
  • "Nice work."
  • "I'm done for..."
  • "Sorry!"
  • "No worries!"
  • "Nice!"
  • "How?!"
  • "Gotcha."
  • "So tough!"
  • "OOPS!"
  • "WAHOO!"
  • "Oh no..."
  • "We've got this."
  • "Teamwork!"
  • "Follow me."
  • "HELP!"
  • "Run for it!"
  • "Juuuuump!"
  • "Hop on!"
  • "Throw!"
