Builder Boxes are a type of summonable Crate exclusive to the Super Mario 3D World game style of Super Mario Maker 2. Builder Boxes feature a matching color and stamped emblem depending on which of Mario, Luigi, Toad, and Toadette summoned them. They can be brought out by players in Builder form by pressing 
while holding ↑ on 
. Players must be standing on ground and not holding any other item to bring out Builder Boxes, and once brought out, they can be thrown.
Up to five Builder Boxes for each player can exist at a time within a course. If a player brings out a sixth Builder Box, the oldest Builder Box will vanish with a puff of smoke. Using Warp Boxes, Warp Doors and respawning after a death causes the player's Builder Boxes to disappear.
During Network Play in version 1.1.0 and later of the game, if a player attempts to exit a Warp Door, Warp Pipe, or Clear Pipe that is blocked by a Builder Box that is not their own, the Builder Box will break rather than preventing the player from exiting. In Local Multiplayer, the boxes simply disappear like in single player mode.
