"Title Theme (Humming),"[2] also known as "Luigi's Mansion"[3] or the "Main Theme,"[4] is a musical theme composed by Kazumi Totaka for Luigi's Mansion. It is a suspenseful piece played in A minor at a moderato tempo. In subsequent games in the Super Mario franchise, this theme is often used as a leitmotif for the Luigi's Mansion series and occasionally even Luigi himself. An alternate arrangement of "Title Theme (Humming)" is also used as a leitmotif for Professor E. Gadd.

"Title Theme (Humming)" features Luigi humming the lead melody. In-game, the theme plays when Luigi is in a dark hallway of the mansion and not actively engaged in combat, with Luigi occasionally humming along as it plays, sounding more distressed as his HP gets closer to zero. In dark rooms, the music goes silent as Luigi continues to hum the theme. Contrary to the name, this theme has a completely different melody from the actual "Title Theme" of the game.

Luigi's Mansion[edit]

Luigi's Mansion and its Nintendo 3DS remake of the same name feature several additional arrangements of "Title Theme (Humming)."

A truncated version similar to the original theme that replaces Luigi's humming with a theremin plays at the end of "Professor E. Gadd and the Poltergust 3000," which plays in the cutscene where Professor E. Gadd meets Luigi for the first time.

An arrangement of "Title Theme (Humming)" plays in Professor E. Gadd's Lab. It is titled "Professor E. Gadd's Lab" in the Nintendo Music app. This theme would become the basis for arrangements associated with Professor E. Gadd in future games.

When Luigi enters a lit room, the background music goes silent while he whistles the lead melody of "Title Theme (Humming)."

"Game Boy Horror Ringtone" is a chiptune arrangement of "Title Theme (Humming)" is used as the Game Boy Horror's ringtone.

"Chatting with Professor E. Gadd" is a different chiptune arrangement of "Title Theme (Humming)" that is heard during Game Boy Horror calls.

A harp arrangement of "Title Theme (Humming)" plays when Luigi is outside of the mansion or in the Observatory after looking at the moon.

A piano arrangement of "Title Theme (Humming)" can be heard when Luigi is standing outside of the Conservatory before defeating Melody Pianissima.

"Light the Candles," the music heard during the cutscene when Luigi is trapped in the Astral Hall, is a brief arrangement of "Title Theme (Humming)."

In the Clockwork Room, the clocks on the right side of the room play an arrangement of "Title Theme (Humming)" when the player interacts with them.

One of three brief arrangements plays when Luigi's NEW Mansion is built with either Rank A, Ranks B-G, or Rank H, respectively.

The Game Over theme "Good Night! (Game Over)" is an arrangement of "Title Theme (Humming)."
