"Title Theme (Humming),"[2] also known as "Luigi's Mansion"[3] or the "Main Theme,"[4] is a musical theme composed by Kazumi Totaka for Luigi's Mansion. It is a suspenseful piece played in A minor at a moderato tempo. In subsequent games in the Super Mario franchise, this theme is often used as a leitmotif for the Luigi's Mansion series and occasionally even Luigi himself. An alternate arrangement of "Title Theme (Humming)" is also used as a leitmotif for Professor E. Gadd.
"Title Theme (Humming)" features Luigi humming the lead melody. In-game, the theme plays when Luigi is in a dark hallway of the mansion and not actively engaged in combat, with Luigi occasionally humming along as it plays, sounding more distressed as his HP gets closer to zero. In dark rooms, the music goes silent as Luigi continues to hum the theme. Contrary to the name, this theme has a completely different melody from the actual "Title Theme" of the game.
