Hallways are a type of location in Luigi's Mansion and its Nintendo 3DS version. Hallways are featured in every area of Luigi's Mansion and primarily serve as a way of connecting most other locations in a given area. On the Game Boy Horror's map, hallways are colored mint green rather than a particular area's color.
When Luigi first enters a hallway, it is dark and littered with weak ghosts such as Ceiling Surprises and Blue Mice, as well as minor obstacles such as fake doors. All hallways will remain dark and their ghosts will continuously respawn when the hallway is exited until the area boss is defeated, upon which its ghosts will disappear and light will return. Most of the larger ghosts in the hallways are positioned in any number of randomized locations whenever the hallway is entered, though most small ghosts appear in consistent locations.
The hallways found in the mansion are the Main Hall[1] on the 1st floor, the Stairway[2] between the 1st and 2nd floors, the West Wing[3] and Main Hall[4] on the 2nd floor, the Stairway[5] between the 2nd and 3rd floors, the East Hall[5] and West Hall[6] (or the East Wing and West Wing)[7] on the 3rd floor, the Stairway[8] between the 1st floor and the basement, and the Corridor[9] in the basement.
The West Wing lights up after completing Area 1. The first floor Main Hall and the Stairway to the basement light up after completing Area 2. The Stairway to the second floor and the second floor Main Hall light up after completing Area 3. The Stairway to the third floor, the third floor East and West Halls, and the basement Corridor are never lit up.
