Snorlax is a Normal-type Pokémon originating from Pokémon Red and Green Versions (Pokémon Red and Blue Versions in regions outside Japan). As of Generation IV, it evolves from Munchlax when leveled up with high friendship. Snorlax are known to be lazy, only sleeping and eating; in some of the main Pokémon games, they are occasionally found sleeping in inconvenient locations and must be awakened to advance. They are also very hungry, eating over 900 pounds of food on average a day, and is willing to eat anything.

Snorlax appears as a Poké Ball Pokémon in every installment of the Super Smash Bros. series to date. When summoned, it leaps up into the air and attacks with Body Slam, falling down onto the battlefield at a larger size and smashing any opponents in its path, sending them flying. It can also attack opponents when flying up after being summoned.

In Super Smash Bros. Melee Snorlax also appears as one of the balloons in the Poké Floats stage.

A Sleeping Pokémon. It's the ultimate loafer. Sometimes children like to play on top of its big belly. Once in a slumber, not even the hardest rain or the fiercest wind will wake it. Snorlax recovers health and restores its physical state by sleeping, and it proves daunting with its damaging Snore attack. Snorlax is the king of Sleeping Pokémon.
