Template:Worldbox World 1 is a place that is found in the game, New Super Mario Bros.. This place was actually around Princess Peach's Castle. The ground had grass and flowers growing on it, since it is a grassland-themed world like World 1 in some other games. This is where Mario and Luigi's adventure started as they go around the levels. This world takes place in the Mushroom Kingdom.

Bowser Jr. was fought here for the first time, and Bowser was the first boss in the game, not counting Bowser Jr. who's a mini-boss. After defeating Bowser, the brothers would go to World 2.

1-1

This is the first level in New Super Mario Bros. It is a meadow with flowers all over the place, and Peach's Castle is visible in the background. It has basic enemies, such as Goombas and Koopa Troopas.

After finding out where Bowser Jr. is heading, Mario starts out here. The first ? Blocks that Mario encounters have 2 Coins in them, and one that has a power-up. Going on into the level, Brick Blocks appear. The top one contains 14 coins and a mushroom. Underneath that one contains 1 coin, while the rest are simple Brick Blocks. Mario then encounters a Goomba, who he stomps on, being next to a Pipe. The Pipe is not able to go down to, however. Another Goomba appears to stop Mario, but he just easily stomps on it, and jumps over a gap while collecting coins. A block is struck, and a Mega Mushroom is encountered for the first time, making Mario become the huge Mega Mario, destroying everything in its path. However, if the player chooses not to get the Mega Mushroom, they should keep advancing. The player will now see their first Star Coin. There are some Koopa-Troop's and a Goomba in this area. There is also a hidden vine that leads to the sky. It is located inside a Brick Block where the Red Koopa Troopa is walking. The pipe that's currently visible to the player leads to an underground room with a Star Coin in it, and a power-up. The player will see 3 Brick Blocks with coins in them, but if the player jumps on top of the middle Brick Block, a Star will come out of it. Another ? Block will be here, this time containing a power-up. A set of Brick Blocks will be blocking the second Star Coin, the player has to ground pound it to break it and get the Star Coin. Another ? Block will be here, containing a single coin. A couple of Goomba's and Koopa-Troopa's will appear in this area, along with Brick Blocks and Coins. The player will now see the flag and finish the level. They will now gain access to World 1-2.

Pursuing the chase after Bowser Jr., Mario finds himself in a strange cave. Adventuring on, Mario finds that many Goombas and Koopa Troopas inhabit this cave. He then sees some blocks. Hitting it produces Coins. Mario collects them, and moves on to a strange sight - a Star Coin. He jumps onto the ledge, and collects it, he then moves on, encountering more Goombas. Going forward, Mario finds a block of rock that he can't get through - yet he prevails by smashing the blocks above it, and getting through. A hole is then met, Mario easily jumps over it, but then meets a Star Coin embedded in some blocks. Trying to find out how to get in, Mario jumps to the top and Ground Pounds it - the blocks are then destroyed, creating a passageway to get the Star Coin. A Piranha Plant is then met. Mario jumps over it, and goes down the pipe it was guarding. Mario, finding a passageway, collects the Coins, then hits the Koopa Troopa, creating a passage way to be created by the Koopa Troopa's shell. Mario waits until its done, and crawls under the passageway - he then comes across, and is greeted by some Goombas. Running, he then meets a block. A Mega Mushroom pops out. Mario collects it, and destroys all the Goombas. He then goes up a pipe nearby. Mario is then in the cave again, and jumps carefully over some pipes sticking out of a hole. He then makes it onto the ground, and runs forward. He then meets a strange log. He runs over it, and continues through the cave. A pipe then greets him, as he appears out of the pipe, and into the sunshine again, and also near the Flagpole. He then finishes the level.

Secret Exit

As Mario reaches the second log, he jumps to the upper solid ground and dashes quickly until he reaches the last Star Coin. He than grabs it and exits from the green pipe thus ending the level.

Mario about to get a Red Coin in World 1-3
World 1-3

The level starts off with a few tilting mushrooms, where Mario can find a block with a Mushroom or a Fire Flower. In the next area, there will be a few spin-jump pads that will make the player spin jump very high. If the player spin jumps onto a platform higher in the area, this one leads the player to a bouncy mushroom that is below the first Star Coin in the level. The player will also find a path of coins in the air. If the player follows the path correctly, the player will easily get another Star Coin and will be halfway through the level. Now the player has to go onto several tilting mushrooms that are moving up and down. The player can get the level's last Star Coin here. Next the player will find a Red Ring which will make Red Coins appear. There are also more mushroom platforms. Then there are two more tilting mushrooms and the player will reach the level's Flagpole. To get an extra life from the pole, the player should wait until the mushroom is tilted up in the direction of the pole, run, and double jump or triple jump off the end.

World 1-Tower

The player starts out on a rising and lowering platform if which the player stays on it for long enough it will go down and this will reveal four coins. Mario then progresses encountering the first Dry Bones of the tower and the game. The player then keeps on going up finding two ? Blocks, one containing a coin and thge other either a Mushroom or a Fire Flower depending on what form Mario is. The player continues to progress up the tower but some platforms appear pushing out from the walls. If the player is in between the platforms the player will lose a life. On the last platform he encounters another Dry Bones. Still going up, the player has to jump up a couple of platforms, then the player has to turn right encountering platforms trying to push down on Mario. The player continues to progress up finding finding another group of platforms. The player finally reaches to the last one which Mario is on top of the platforms, here the player also encounters another Dry Bones. The player will also find a Star Coin and two blocks, one a normal block and the other a ? block. The normal block contains coins while in the other block there is a Mushroom or a Fire Flower. The player progresses up finding platforms pushing out of the wall which if the player can pass them fast enough they will appear as a stair case. The player has to go up it finding the player in between an unusable door and a Warp Pipe. The player can go into the warp pipe which will shoot the player, making Mario reach the check point.

The player either go up towards the Door or go down to get more Star Coins. If the player decides to go up, the player finds a warp pipe cannon that will blast Mario past a series of moving platforms. If the player times it right Mario will get to the Boss Door easily, if not the player will lose a life by being crushed between the platforms. Here there are two Super Dry Bones's trapped in two enclosed platforms. The player also finds a ? Block which contains either a Mushroom or Fire Flower. The player has to enter the door in order to progress. The player will now find Bowser Jr., who challenges Mario to a battle. Bowser Jr. will run around the room, trying to run into Mario.

After his first defeat, Bowser Jr. will then take Peach away with him to the castle of World 1.

Secret Exit

In order to reach the secret exit, Mario will have to be Shell Mario. In the room with the Second Star Coin and shifting blocks, the player can find a gap that never closes. The player has to enter the gap and jump upwards to find a 1-Up Mushroom, then the player has to jump onto five more blocks. The player has to start the Shell Dash. After destroying all the blocks, the player has to enter the pipe. Next the player will fall to the right after exiting. The player has to jump onto a block to grab another 1-Up while unlocking the Warp Cannon which will shoot the player all the way to World Five.

1-4

This level is a grassy meadow, much like World 1-1. The first ? Block (which is on the ground, and not floating, unlike most ?-Blocks) contains a Mushroom. A ?-Block containing a Mini Mushroom is later found in the level. The Mini-Mushroom can be used to travel into a small pipe nearby that lead to the first Star Coin. A wall made up of Brick Blocks and cement blocks that are blocking a Pipe. The wall is shaped in such a way that it's possible to throw a Koopa Shell on it, which will break all of the Blocks and will eventually allow the player to enter it. Alternatively, the player could use a Mega Mushroom to break the block Wall, although the Pipe could end up being accidentally broken. The pipe leads to a cave that contains a Star Coin that is reached by using a P-Switch that turn every Brick Block into a Coin and vice-versa. The third Star Coin is found in a small gap just before the level's flagpole.

Infinite 1-Up Trick

This level posses one of the few spots of the game where it is possible to generate an infinite number of Extra Lives. Just after the Block Wall, two pipes can be found nearby, both of which produce an infinite number of Goombas. The trick is to throw a Koopa Shell between the two pipes, and the Shell will hit the Goombas produced by the Pipe and eventually, the Player will gain an Extra Life for every Goomba hit. Since the Pipes never stop producing Goombas and the shell won't disappear until the player goes too far from it, it is possible to collect up to 99 1-Ups.

1-5

The level starts out on a basic red mushroom, which leads into many pink-colored bouncy mushrooms. Towards the middle of the row of bouncy mushroom is a Star Coin, surrounded by four normal Coins. At the end of the bouncy mushroom row, are two dropping platforms (if stood on for awhile, they both fall down), and right after this, is another Star Coin. Afterwards, there are four dropping platforms and a pipe (which can be entered) above the platforms. Inside the pipe is a moving red mushroom, which will move across rows of regular coins (a Star Coin is located in a mushroom formation in the middle of this row). Afterwards, the player then drops downwards (not far from the location of the pipe). Then come another row of bouncy mushrooms and a Red Coin Ring, and, if the player goes into the ring, he or she must grab the eight red coins (avoiding a Goomba and a Koopa-Troopa. Afterwards, there is another long row of the bouncy mushrooms. At the end of the row is the flagpole, resulting in the level being finished.

1-A

First, the player has to go down the Warp Pipe, and the player will see an underwater world. Also, a ? Block with a power up can be found. At this point the screen will scroll automatically: that means Mario will be crushed by solid obstacles if he was hit with that at the most left of the screen. Sushis, a kind of blue shark appearing first in Super Mario 64, will appear at both the top and bottom of the screen, two each time. If it is hit by one of Fire Mario's fireballs it will be defeated quickly.

The player can find a P-Switch while swimming along this level. If the player hits it, it will produce Silver Coins between bouncy obstacles. Then, by going high as possible, the player can grab the first Star Coin. From there Mario will go right, entering the pipe leading upwards, appearing near the second Star Coin.

When entering the underwater world again, take up the random Power-up Block while avoiding the Cheep Cheeps. The player has to dodge the Sushis coming from the left and the can go through a red ring to get Red Coins. The Sushis will now switch back to attacking from the right, but what makes difficult is the current of bubbles from pipes; there's also a silver coin challenge for the player to try.

The player has to swim right as soon as the Star Coin appears above, grabbing the Star Coin, followed by either ducking to avoid the incoming Sushi or swim back out quickly. Then the player has to swim past the last few Sushis and head up the pipe, going forward to jump onto the flagpole to end the level.

1-Castle

World 1-Castle

This level is the castle of the first world. It is the location of the game's first major boss fight.

The majority of the level consists of walking on tightropes over lava. Along the way, Mario encounters Podoboos and Dry Bones. There are also several platforms that move up and down, some of which sink into the lava. Eventually, Mario comes to safe ground. However, it is below a ceiling of spikes that slowly lower themselves down to the ground. Mario must jump to in-between gaps before he is crushed, and then get through a second lava-filled area before making it to the boss door.

Bowser is the boss of the first world. The fight is very similar to the ones from Super Mario Bros; the fight takes place on a small bridge above a pit of lava, with a Skull Switch at one end. Mario must get either under or over the Koopa King and hit the switch, which will collapse the bridge. (Intrestingly, if one attacks Bowser enough (jump, fireball...), he will fall in the lava, but the victory animation will not start until you trigger the skull switch, even though Bowser has already been defeated.) After the Koopa King's defeat, he is reduced to a skeleton (Dry Bowser), and is not seen again until World 8.
