This is possibly to ensure that the player gives the Coconut to Flavio in exchange for the Chuckola Cola, as giving him any other food item results in him asking for something more tropical. Since Keel Mangoes are also tropical, this may be why they were made unavailable at this point in the game. Once the [[Warp Pipe]] leading to Keelhaul Key has been activated, it is a very simple matter to get Keel Mangoes — a tree containing them is very near the Warp Pipe.

A Keel Mango is, as its name implies, a mango-like fruit found in Keelhaul Key in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. It replenishes five HP when eaten, but is more useful as an ingredient for some of Zess T.'s more exotic dishes, such as Mango Delight and Fruit Parfait.

The Keel Mango is not available when the player first arrives at Keelhaul Key (except for the Japanese version where it is available at any time). In fact, it does not become available until after the player has completed the chapter and returned to Rogueport.
