A virus coin is an object in Dr. Mario World. Introduced in World 2, they are blue coins with the image of a virus imprinted on it. These coins are found in the background where they are covered by objects including viruses, and in order for them to be collected, those objects must be removed first. Prior to version 1.1.0, capsules also block the virus coins from being collected. Virus coins can be as large as to occupy nine rows and nine columns. A virus coin that is collected is considered eliminated, and thus will fill the skill meter. Dr. Baby Wario's skill can be used to collect any virus coins within the target even though there are still objects covering them. Virus coins only appear in stage mode.

In-game description

  • "Clearing this stage requires you to do something a little... different from usual! Find the virus coins hidden throughout the play area! Collect enough coins, and you'll clear the stage!"
