A Gold Mouse leaving its piece of cheese.

Gold Mice are cowardly animal spooks found in the game Luigi's Mansion. They come out when Luigi examines one of five pieces of cheese with his Game Boy Horror and then scurry around the room before escaping through the wall. Gold Mice also randomly appear in five predetermined rooms or hallways 20% of the time Luigi enters the room or hallway, for a total of ten mice in all throughout the mansion. If Luigi manages to suck one up before it escapes, a large amount of money will spray from the nozzle of the Poltergust 3000, which can include valuable treasures like Stones. Unlike Speedy Spirits, if Luigi fails to catch the Gold Mouse, he can exit and reenter the room and scan the piece of cheese again.

Locations

This article is under construction. Therefore, please excuse its informal appearance while it is being worked on. We hope to have it completed as soon as possible.

This is a list of where to find all ten Gold Mice in the game, with rooms and their treasures.

Within cheese pieces

For to find these Mice, is necessary for Luigi to check a piece of cheese (which is "invisible" for the player on the normal view of the game) with the Game Boy Horror.

Study Behind the desk 30 Coins, 15 Bills and a Green Jewel.
Fortune-Teller's Room Behind Madame Clairvoya's chair 30 Coins, 10 Bills and a Blue Jewel.

Without cheese

Some of the Mice, though, are find in rooms (or hallways) without any cheese. When the player enters some specific rooms, there is a 20% chance of a Gold Mouse to appear.

Room Treasure
Hallway on 1F (near the entrance of the Fortune-Teller's Room) 30 Coins, 15 Bills and 2 Gold Bars
Kitchen 30 Coins, 10 Bills and a Green Jewel.
Tea Room 30 Coins, 10 Bills and a Red Jewel.
Hallway on 2F (coming from the Anteroom) 30 Coins, 10 Bills and a Blue Jewel.

Notes

  • Just like the Speedy Spirit, Gold Mice are immune to elements.
  • The Tea Room is the only room which contains two Gold Mice: one found by checking a piece of cheese, and other found randomly.
  • Whereas all Speedy Spirits give Luigi 20 Coins, all Gold Mice give him 30 Coins. Also, the Gold Mouse in the Sealed Room is the only "Treasure Ghost" which give nothing but coins.
