“My name is Melody. People call me the spectral beauty of the ivory keys.

What a stirring performance! I haven't been so charmed by a piece for ages! ”

Melody Pianissima, Luigi's Mansion

Melody Pianissima, the Beautiful Pianist is the sixth ghost Luigi meets and is one of the many portrait ghosts who was freed by King Boo in Luigi's Mansion. Melody is said to have been an expert pianist, and also to have been very vain. She died at the young age of 26, and now spends her afterlife endlessly playing her piano. She has gotten better at it since she became a ghost, probably because she has had all eternity to practice. No-one knows why Melody died, but then again, there is much uncertainty about why any of the people who became the Portrait Ghost archive did. Shivers the butler is very deeply smitten with her, but she apparently dismisses his affections for unknown reasons, much to his dismay. The 46 year age difference between them may have something to do with it. Melody also has an odd passion for video games.

When Luigi enters the Conservatory in the second area of the mansion, he must make all the instruments there play music by tapping them; this will lure Melody out. She will play along with the music for a while and then complement Luigi, and ask him if he would like to listen to her piano sonata. She will then play a classic song from a Mario game for Luigi and then ask a question about it. If Luigi answers wrong she will slam her hands down on the piano and shout that she had put her heart and soul into that piece and that Luigi had 'insulted' her and her music. She will then disappear and Luigi must repeat the process again. If he answers right she will laugh and then ask him if he would care to do battle with her 'lovely' music sheets. She will then attack him by playing a piece on her piano causing her music sheets to fly at him. Sucking up the sheets with the Poltergust 3000 causes Melody to stop playing the piano and clutch her head in frustration and sadness at the loss of her music, exposing her heart and making her vulnerable. Luigi can then stun her with his flashlight and suck her into the Poltergust. After some medium yet energetic pulls from Melody, Luigi opens the green chest that appears in the room and gains the key to the Dining Room where the next portrait ghost, Mr. Luggs, waits. Stuffing his face full of ghost jelly in the mean time.

Personality

Melody has a temper which is fairly easily set off. If Luigi gets the question wrong about the song she played she bangs on the piano and yells that she had played a "beautiful piece" and Luigi "insulted" it.

Physical Appearance

Melody wears a long maroon colored dress with long sleeves. White frilly trim is on her sleeves and the bottom of her dress. She has a dark red belt with a white buckle at her waist and has a dark red bow near her neck. She also has a slight collar to the top of her dress.

She has a heart shaped head and has long pail blond hair with two long bangs pushed behind her ears. Her hair curves at the bottom of her hairstyle. She has light sky-blue skin and large completely yellow eyes. She also has a small nose.
