Silver Stars in the Whomp Fortress is the second mission of the Throwback Galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy 2.

Layout[edit]

In this level, Cloud Flowers and five Silver Stars have been added to the main planet, as well as cloud platforms. With the help of the Cloud Flower, Mario must collect every Silver Star in the level. They are found in the following areas:

  • On the ramp near the start of the level, before the Bomp.
  • Floating under a shifting platform after the Bomp and a Cloud Flower, requiring Cloud Mario or a Wall Jump.
  • On a cloud platform at the base of the back of the fortress, accessible only to Cloud Mario.
  • On a cloud platform high above the water pool, near the spinning bridge. Two rows of clouds extend from the fortress to assist the player.
  • On a cloud platform above the top of the fortress, requiring Cloud Mario's power.

When all of them are collected, they will form a Power Star, which floats just above the closed gate on top of the fortress.

This mission makes a reference to Super Mario 64 DS, as the additional cloud terrain is placed in the exact same area as the DS exclusive grass area of Whomp's Fortress that contains a Bullet Bill and many Piranha Plants.
