- “I've found one of the Koopalings near a shipwreck! What's a ship doing way out here in the desert, anyway? This all feels pretty sinister to me... Please, get here as fast as you can!”
- —Recruit Report, Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park
Roy's Showdown! is a level in Sunbaked Desert in Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park. It is unlocked after defeating the Koopalings in Bellabel Park after they steal the large Bellabel Flower. It is a variation of the level Armads on the Roll. This course houses one Bellabel Flower and has a difficulty of three stars.
Layout[edit]
The course starts with Roy standing on the sand near some pots. After that, the player, Captain Toad, and the Recruit Poplin enter the screen and face him to retrieve one of the seven Bellabel Flowers that he stole. After the player presses on the last dialogue, he proceeds to transform into his Wonder form using Bowser's Wonder power. This puts the course in a Wonder Effect, making the level go dark. After that, Roy will appear as a ghost and possess the shipwreck in the background and make it float in the sky. The ship will have Roy's emblem on the front sail, making it resemble a pirate ship.
In the level, it will rain Wonder Fish Bones from the sky in different formations (that the player can see at the background when they are launched from the ship). As the player progresses farther in the level, they appear in larger numbers. Additionally, Boos will appear from the right part of the screen depending on the players position.
When the player reaches the long corridor, the ship will disappear and then appear in the background. There is a Checkpoint Flag, and afterwards, there will be a Plucky that will throw a ? Capsule containing a Super Flower Pot. After the player reaches the end of the second staircase, they will walk near Roy. He claims that he will defeat the player.
In the arena, there are some platforms that the player can stand on that can be used as protection from incoming attacks from the sky.
In the first phase, Roy will make Wonder Fish Bones fall from the sky, and when he makes a grunting sound, he will make the cannon of the ship fire blue fireballs from it. After the second blue fireball is launched, Plucky will appear with a ? Capsule that contains a Light Vase; the player must grab it to shoot small light orbs to damage Roy.
After Roy receives enough damage, he will grab the ship and will try to squash the player; the player must stand under an oppening of the ship's base to avoid getting squashed.
In the second phase of the battle, Boos will appear and try to harm the player. A Plucky will throw another ? Capsule that contains a Light Vase that the player must grab to damage Roy. When he receives enough damage, he will teleport to another place. After he receives enough damage, he will carry the ship and Boos will come out to damage the player.
In the final phase, Wonder Fish Bones and Boos will appear in larger numbers and the cannon will fire much faster. A Plucky will appear with a ? Capsule that contains a Light Vase. After the player deals enough damage to Roy, he will be defeated.
After the final hit, Roy will get back in his normal form, the ship will land on the sand, and he will then jump off-screen.
Then, the Recruit Poplin and Captain Toad will walk in and a Bellabel Flower will appear at the center of the screen to collect.
