Petal Isles Flying Battleship is a course in Petal Isles of Super Mario Bros. Wonder. It is an Airship summoned by Kamek to hinder the players' progress. It is unlocked after clearing Jewel-Block Cave, and its own completion unlocks Gnawsher Lair, Maw-Maw Mouthful, and a Wonder Piranha leading to Fungi Mines. This level houses one Wonder Seed, and has a difficulty of three stars.

Layout[edit]

The player starts at the bow of the airship, and must make it to the stern. The level is mostly autoscrolling, so they must keep up to avoid falling behind. Much of this course requires Lakitu's Clouds to traverse, which are found in many pipes throughout the course. It starts off with a Mechakoopa below three ? Blocks, with the one on the right containing a Bubble Flower. There are two short Bill Blasters above that fire Bullet Bills. After a gap is a gray pipe with a Bill Blaster, a Burner, and floating Wow Bud that releases coins to the right. On the right of a platform with two cannons is another pipe. After a short tunnel with burners on the sides is a downwards slope with two Mechakoopas and some Wow Buds just before another pipe. Next is a section with some turns that have many cannons firing Bullet Bills and pipes that send out more Lakitu's Clouds, taking the player to the Checkpoint Flag.

Just after the first checkpoint are some crates, with the large one releasing a Bubble Flower when broken, and a pipe that sends out Red POW Blocks, which are used to break the crates on the right. This leads to another pipe sending out Lakitu's Clouds. After a small tunnel with moving torches is a platform with crates and the course's Wonder Flower below them. As the player touches the Wonder Flower, its Wonder Effect summons a floating Bowser structure resembling the front of the airship that will charge up and fire explosive shots at the players. A cursor signals where the Bowser structure will fire, following the players and stopping when about to fire. These explosions can destroy blocks as well as Iron Blocks. As the player passes through several burners they reach the Wonder Seed; upon collecting it the Bowser structure will vanish. There are some more spinning burners with long flames that lead to the second Checkpoint Flag, followed by three Mechakoopas and a pipe that takes the player inside the airship.

Inside the airship is a Conveyor Belt that has Mechakoopas and Iron Blocks, leading to a Mecha Maker. To defeat this Mecha Maker, the players must reach to on top of it and press a switch whilst avoiding the spinning burners, causing the Conveyor Belt to malfunction and go in reverse, causing Iron Blocks to smash into the Mecha Maker. This in turn will create many explosions and then destroy the airship, where it falls onto the clouds. The players successfully escape by using a Propeller Flower.

10-flower coins[edit]

Image Location
first 10 flower coin Found to the left of the downwards slope, which is in between two burners facing right.
second 10 flower Coin locaiton Found in a sub-area that is accessed via a green pipe. The player needs to avoid moving torches to reach it safely.
third 10 flower coin location Found after the first checkpoint. It is surrounded by crates, requiring ground-pounding or the Bowser structure to break so that it can be collected.
