- “I've found one of the Koopalings! He looks exhausted from this heat, so it's the perfect time to take him down! Speaking of heat, I'm kinda worried that I'm going to wilt away down here...”
- —Recruit Report, Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park
Morton's Showdown! (known as Deep Magma Bog Brigade Tent on the map) is a level in the Deep Magma Bog in Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park. It is unlocked after defeating the Koopalings in Bellabel Park after they steal the large Bellabel Flower. It is a variation of the level Hot-Hot Hot!. This course houses one Bellabel Flower and has a difficulty of three stars.
Layout[edit]
The course starts with Morton standing on the ground. After that, the player, Captain Toad, and the Recruit Poplin enter the screen and face him to retrieve one of the seven Bellabel Flowers that he stole. After the player presses on the last dialogue, he proceeds to transform into his Wonder form using Bowser's Wonder power. This puts the course in a Wonder Effect, giving the level a light purple atmosphere with clouds. Then, Morton will come out as a marionette and be suspended in the air by a total of five strings (one purple and four green). He is being controlled by two Lakitus in the foreground (one of them at the bottom-left and the other is located at the bottom-right of the screen).
In the level, there are Iron Blocks that have Morton's emblem on them. Periodically, Morton will use a Ground Pound–like ability that causes a ground tremor, making the player, a Talking Flower, Iron Blocks, and Giant Spiked Balls bounce up.
After the first Checkpoint Flag, there is a Giant pipe that expels Spike Balls that harm the player if it touches them, and destroys Iron Blocks on contact.
When the player reaches the long corridor, Morton will leave and he will laugh. There is a Checkpoint Flag, and afterwards there will be a Plucky that throws a ? Capsule containing a Super Flower Pot. After the player reaches the end of the second staircase, they will walk near Morton.
He proceeds to talk, saying that he will squash the player. After that, he jumps towards the player and the two Lakitus manning him will leave the screen and the battle starts.
In the first phase, Morton will try to squash the player. The player must grab the handles and pull them three times. Each time that the player pulls a handle, another one will appear higher than the last, making the player use the Iron Blocks that appear underneath when Morton hits the ground. After the third and last handle is pulled, Morton will punch himself, damaging him.
After that, the ropes will disappear and Morton will fall on his back on the ground. Then more ropes will appear lifting him up, putting him in the background, he lands with a Ground Pound, making an Iron Block appear. Each time he Ground Pounds, more Iron Blocks appear. After that, a giant Spike Ball will appear on the right of the screen that the player must jump over it or go under it to avoid getting hit by it.
After the giant Spike Ball leaves the arena, Morton will jump towards the player. He will try to squash the player at a faster rate. The player must grab the strings to make Morton hit himself. When the third string is pulled, Morton will punch himself in the head, damaging him again.
After the second hit, the strings holding Morton will disappear and make him fall on his back. A Plucky will appear holding a ? Capsule containing a Super Flower Pot, and then it leaves.
In the final phase, Morton will be placed in the background, landing with a Ground Pound, and it will be at a faster rate, making a set of six Iron Blocks appear. After that, a giant Spike Ball appears on the right side of the screen that the player must avoid by jumping on the Iron Blocks. When the giant Spike Ball leaves the arena, Morton will jump towards the player, and he will use his fists to squash the player at a faster rate. The player must grab the handles another three times. After the last string is pulled, Morton will punch himself, defeating himself, and causing him to revert to his normal form and jump off-screen.
Then, the Recruit Poplin and Captain Toad will walk in and a Bellabel Flower will appear at the center of the screen to collect.
Hidden Character Blocks[edit]
- A Yoshi Hidden Character Block can be found at the right side of the column of Hot-Hot Rocks, near a Handle before the long corridor. It contains a flower coin.
