Conkdor Canyon, or World 2-1, is the seventh regular level of Super Mario 3D World and its Nintendo Switch port Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury, and the first one in World 2. It is unlocked via completing Bowser's Highway Showdown or by using the secret warp in Koopa Troopa Cave, and its own completion unlocks Puffprod Peaks and Shadow-Play Alley. It is set on an old-looking building and introduces Conkdors, the main enemies in here, hence the name. Conkdor Canyon also appears in the Wii U version of Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker if the player's Wii U has save data for Super Mario 3D World.

Conkdor Canyon additionally appears in the background in Super Mario Maker 2, in the desert theme of the Super Mario 3D World style.

Layout[edit]

The first area contains a few Conkdors and Stingbies, as well as some ponds of quicksand and Jump Panels. Just after the third Conkdor encountered, atop a wall behind it there is a golden Warp Pipe that leads to a room with a golden P Switch. The Checkpoint Flag is found near a small oasis with grass, and small pond with coins in it, a palm tree and a Conkdor.

Next, Mario must cross a bridge made of moving tiles, and after that another bridge, this time a very narrow one, guarded by more Conkdors. The last part contains more Stingbies, a quicksand fall, and a long shifting and dangerous bridge that leads to the Goal Pole.

In Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury, the level's final bridge has had its shifting pattern changed to accommodate the player's faster movement speed.

Collectables[edit]

Green Stars[edit]

  • Green Star 1: Above a high wall in the start of the course. The player can use the Cat transformation to reach the top.
  • Green Star 2: After the thin walkway, the player will see a Conkdor surrounded by four Grey Blocks. They must have it break the block facing north-east to get the second Green Star.
  • Green Star 3: Before the end of the level, the player must help out the Captain Toad by defeating a Conkdor, who is attacking him to obtain the Green Star.

Stamp[edit]

The hidden Luigi is painted on the wall beneath the first shifting bridge, more clearly visible when looking through the binoculars the Sprixie provides to the right of the Checkpoint.
