Bowser's Highway Showdown, also known as World 1-Castle, is the final standard course of World 1 in Super Mario 3D World and its Nintendo Switch port Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury. It is a castle with many Kick Bombs, with Bowser serving as the boss. The green Sprixie Princess is held prisoner in the castle. It is unlocked by completing Plessie's Plunging Falls or Switch Scramble Circus. Ten Green Stars are needed to enter and its own completion frees the green Sprixie Princess who builds a Clear Pipe to World 2.

Layout[edit]

This course begins in a road with two Kick Bombs, a Green Ring, and a Goomba Tower. If the player, in cat form, climbs on top of the wall behind these things and waits, they will see an 8-bit Super Luigi swimming; this is the level's hidden 8-bit Luigi. Later on, there is an area with two Cannons shooting Kick Bombs. Some Thwomps and a Cat Wheel appear soon after. A short path with a Goomba Tower and a Green Star follows. The road ends in a wall made of many stone Brick Blocks. The player must use some nearby Kick Bombs to break the wall, and get to the nearby Warp Box leading to the boss. After climbing up a staircase, the player encounters Bowser in Bowser's Muscle Car.

Players defeat Bowser by launching the Kick Bombs he throws by running into them. The player will score full damage if they hit Bowser directly, but the car will take three hits before actual damage is scored. After a while, Bowser will begin to spit fire onto the road which will leave hazardous flaming residue where it lands. Once Bowser is defeated, a Warp Box appears and leads the player to the Goal Pole and the green Sprixie Princess.

Collectables[edit]

Green Stars[edit]

  • Green Star 1: At the beginning of the course, the player must activate the Green Ring and collect the 8 Green Coins to make the Green Star appear.
  • Green Star 2: For this Green Star, Cat Mario is required. Shortly after the first green star, the player must activate the Cat Wheel and then scale the walls to get the star.
  • Green Star 3: After the second star, a Goomba Tower holding the star captive appears. The player must defeat the Goomba Tower to get the star.
