Busō Koopa, also called Mecha Koopa and Koopa Mecha, is Bowser's battle armor in Yoshi's Safari. It is a giant blue and grey armor, with the helmet similar to a medieval knight. The belly is green, and covers a cannon. The only things of Bowser that the armor let see are the hair, horns, shell, and foot claws.

Yoshi's Safari[edit]
In Yoshi's Safari, Bowser is the final boss and his first phases has him wearing his armor. After Yoshi and Mario fall down a pit, they reach Bowser and the battle begins. Inside the armor, Bowser attacks by shooting projectiles at them with the blasters on the hands. However, the entire robot is invincible except for the hands; attacking these enough times disables them and cause the robot's actual weak point to be revealed. When this is attacked enough times, the robotic suit is destroyed, revealing Bowser himself.
Super Mario-kun[edit]
In Super Mario-kun, Bowser uses the Mecha Koopa in the last fight of the Yoshi's Safari arc in stage 8 of volume 9. With the Super Scope recharging, Mario first sends Mecha Yoshi to battle him, but he runs out of power. Mario then proceeds to use his weapon as a club to destroy the arm cannons. He then repairs behind Mecha Yoshi from the belly cannon. The missiles Mecha Koopa shoots ends up entering the Super Scope barrel gun. Now full of ammo, Mario shoots the missiles back, destroying Bowser and obtaining the last Crystal Kinoko. At the end of the adventure, Mario and Yoshi return to their bakery, using the Mecha Koopa as their new oven (with Bowser still inside).
The Mecha Koopa, renamed Busō Koopa, returns in the first two stages of volume 19, during the presumed final battle of the Super Mario 64 arc. At first, Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, and Red Bob-omb hide behind the magic carpet to avoid the mecha suits bullets. Right then, the miniaturized Whomp King that joined them earlier pulls out the Super Scope, which is used by Yoshi to remove the arm cannons, but Bowser swipes it away before he can do more damage. Having thought of this, Whomp King activates a bomb hidden in the weapon, and Bowser blows up, losing his armor.
Super Mario (Kodansha manga)[edit]
In the Yoshi's Safari adaptation in Super Mario Kodansha manga series, Bowser is first seen wearing in an apparition in the sky at the end of the first volume, but it is revealed in the next one that he was just pojecting an image in the sky. Bowser only wears the armor during the final fight. First he exploits the darkness in the room to shoot the Ultra Super Scope out of Mario's hands. When Luigi crashes Float Castle onto his, light enters the room, and Mario takes his weapon back. Bowser then uses his belly cannon, powered-up by the last magic gem to attempt and melt Mario. Luigi takes back the stolen magic gems and, with a suggestion from Prince Pine, he puts them in Mario's barrel gun, so he can power-up his weapon too, blasting off the Koopa Mecha in one shot.
