'''Silver Coins''' are coins that appear in ''[[Diddy Kong Racing]]'', where collecting them all is a main objective. Silver coins can be found around certain tracks after beating a world boss and collecting several balloons. They are scattered throughout each track, sometimes hidden in hard to reach spots. Each one must be collected in all stages to complete the game. When taking the challenge, players must grab each coin while racing and win first place. If they manage to do so, they complete the track's challenge. In ''Diddy Kong Racing''{{'}}s DS counterpart, ''[[Diddy Kong Racing DS]]'', the Silver Coins were relatively unchanged except the absence of the Rare Logo and were no longer part of the story now having to be unlocked after getting at least bronze in the Touch Screen Balloon Popping Challenge.

Silver Coins are coins that appear during the Silver Coin Challenges in Diddy Kong Racing. They resemble the Nintendo Coin from Donkey Kong 64.

In the original Nintendo 64 release, every course has a Silver Coin Challenge, where the objective is to collect eight Silver Coins and win in first place. Many of the Silver Coins have a colorful N64 icon designed on the sides and are well hidden or located off-track. The player can only participate in a world's Silver Coin Challenges after winning against the world boss in a race, and every race course has their own minimum requirement of Golden Balloons needed to play the challenges. When the player's racer completes a Silver Coin Challenge, Taj awards them with a Golden Balloon. Completing the Silver Coin Challenge in all four courses of Dino Domain, Snowflake Mountain, Sherbet Island and Dragon Forest engages the player in a rematch against the world's boss to obtain a piece of the Wizpig amulet, and obtaining all four pieces leads up to a race with Wizpig himself. In Future Fun Land, completing the Silver Coin Challenge, plus obtaining all four pieces of the T.T. amulet, engages the player in one more race with Wizpig.

In Diddy Kong Racing DS, every Silver Coin Challenge has been replaced with Balloon Touch Challenges in Adventure Mode. The Silver Coin Challenges still exist in the single race mode, and are redesigned with a Rare symbol on the sides. They can be purchased from Taj's Wishes Menu. Each track's Silver Coin Challenge must be unlocked by completing its respective Balloon Touch Challenge.
