PipeProject:Music/Character theme categories
Certain musical themes are classified as character themes. Character themes can be identified by several factors, including:
- Referring to the relevant character in their title
- Being composed or performed in-universe by the relevant character
- Playing during scenes involving the relevant character
- Playing during boss battles against the relevant character
- Playing in locations associated with and/or named after the relevant character
- Being included in the relevant character's character playlist on Nintendo Music
Some musical themes may be used for several characters. For example, contrary to its title, "Kingfin" is a theme for both Kingfin and Bouldergeist. Character themes may also represent groups of characters, such as "Battling the Broodals" representing the Broodals. In contrast to the wiki's typical organization, species are considered interchangeable with characters for the purpose of determining character themes.
When applying character theme categories, if the theme's relation to the relevant character is not obvious, the explanation for why the theme is considered a character theme can be given in the article's introduction.
As with most other categories, character theme categories should not be added to redirect pages if the article already has the category; for example, specifying that "Bros. Battle" and the arrangement "Sudden Encounter" are both themes for Hammer Bros. is redundant. However, when an arrangement with a dedicated article has a separate history of being used as a character theme from its composition, as is the case with "Ground BGM" from Super Mario Bros. and "Super Mario 2007", both articles may use the same character theme category.
Per the categories policy, subcategories for specific characters' themes can be made once applicable to at least five articles. These subcategories should be titled "(character)'s themes".
