The Rainbow Cup is a cup in the Super Mario franchise. Its emblem is a rainbow.
History[edit]
Mario Tennis series[edit]
The Rainbow Cup first appears as the first cup in the Special Tournament in Mario Tennis and the Star Tournament in Mario Power Tennis. It is unlocked by completing the normal tournaments and unlocking the star rank for a character. Only characters with a star rank are allowed to participate. Its difficulty is comparable to Mushroom Cup and Flower Cup, although players and opponents hit stronger due to the star rank. The Rainbow Cup takes place in the Hard Court and consists of two matches with one set each and a final match with three sets. In Mario Power Tennis, the final match takes place during sunset. When players clear the Rainbow Cup, the Moonlight Cup is unlocked. In Mario Tennis Open, the 1-Up Mushroom Cup replaces the Rainbow Cup.
Mario Kart series[edit]
The Rainbow Cup also appears in Mario Kart Arcade GP and Mario Kart Arcade GP 2. It is unlocked only when players complete the previous five cups in the games. The challenge for the cup is a race against Robo Mario. Completing this cup allows the player to use a character-exclusive item, such as the Star for Mario and Luigi.

Mario Hoops 3-on-3[edit]
The Rainbow Cup appears in Mario Hoops 3-on-3 as the Rainbow Tourney, the fourth and final tournament in the game. It can be unlocked by completing the Star Tourney. This tournament is played on Sherbet Land, Bloocheep Sea, Pirate Ship and Rainbow Ship. There are two difficulties of the Rainbow Tourney; normal and hard. In each one, the prize can be either bronze, silver, or gold. Clearing normal Rainbow Tourney unlocks hard mode for all tourneys.
Unlockables[edit]
- Ninja – Complete normal Rainbow Tourney with a bronze prize or higher.
- White Mage – Complete normal Rainbow Tourney with a silver prize or higher.
- Black Mage – Complete normal Rainbow Tourney with a gold prize.
- Hardest CPU difficulty – Complete hard Rainbow Tourney.
- Black Mage alternate costume – Complete hard Rainbow Tourney with a bronze prize or higher.
- White Mage alternate costume – Complete hard Rainbow Tourney with a silver prize or higher.
- Ninja alternate costume – Complete hard Rainbow Tourney with a gold prize.
