Giant wheels are round stone sculptures with menacing faces painted along their rolling surface originating in Sonic Heroes as the final, chasing obstacle of Ocean Palace. They cross over with the Super Mario franchise in the Wii version of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games, where they appear in both Individual and Team versions of Dream Alpine, which takes heavy influence from Ocean Palace (despite being labeled as Seaside Hill. Here, they slowly roll either back and forth across the path or down the path against the racers, contrary to their original role as fast pursuers.
