Baby Mario goes![edit]
劇団 マリオ座 ("Mario theater company"): Peach leanrs that Mario is putting up a theater play based on Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, with a kid actor playing Baby Mario. Peach comments on how the kid's head is bigger than Yoshi's, upsetting him. Mario scolds the princess for picking on a child, but she justifies herself that she is just jealous she is not in the play.- ヌードはいやよ! ("I don't want to be nude!"): to accodate her, Mario decides to include Peach in the play, but, since Mario will be a baby in the story, she will also be one, and will just wear a diaper. Unwilling to appear bare-chested in front of the audience, Peach chooses to remain a light technician.
器用 な爬虫類 ("A skillful reptile"): Peach also retorts that Yoshi might not be indicated as a main character, seeing as he will have to care of a baby: how can a reptile take care of a human infant? Just then, a mosquito flies by and stings Yoshi in the nose, causing a bump to appear. Now armed with a "boob", Yoshi prepares to breastfeed Baby Mario and Baby Luigi's actors, shutting Peach up.- はじまりはじまり ("Let the show begins"): the play begins. A Stork comes to pick up two bundled up babies: Baby Mario and Baby Luigi. Upon collecting the two bundles, the Storks notices a third bigger one. Sticking to the script, it only picks up the first two, while the third one is marked as "return to sender". While changing the background behind the curtains, Mario discovers that Peach tried to self-insert herself into the story, by hiding in the bundle, but with no avail.
- ベビークッパ ("Baby Bowser"): in the next scene, Baby Bowser orders his guardian Kamek to capture Baby Mario. Kamek thinks it is because he wants to make friends with him, but Baby Bowser explains that he wants instead bully them, so that they will never cross him ever again in the future. Kamek is so impressed and frightened by Baby Bowser's actor energy matching Bowser's (who is gleefully enjoying the show in the audience), that he begins to think the kid might be Bowser's secret son.
類似 品 ("Similar products"): Kamek returns with the Stork and one of the bundles, but he only finds Baby Luigi inside. This prompts Baby Bowser to lash out at his guardian for his failure. Kamek quickly goes back to complete the task.横 とり ("Take over"): meanwhile, in Yoshi's Island, Yoshi returns to his friends flaunting the hat that fell from the sky, that he considered a gift from God specifically for him.[A] One of the Yoshi, also points out to the crying baby in the bush where he found the hat, asking if he is also a present from God.- ヨッシーがいっぱい!("Lot's of Yoshis!"): Baby Mario asks for his hat back, then explains that a wizard attacked him, his brother, and the stork that was supposed to take them home, and now he must find his brother back. The Yoshis observe him confused, so Baby Mario starts to mime, at the best of his abilities, the events he went through, finally getting the Yoshi to help him.
- おちょうし
者 カメック ("Kamek the buffoon"): just then, Kamek appears, ready to snatch Baby Mario. Feinging awe, Baby Mario compares Kamek and his broom to a surfer and his surfboard. To impress him, Kamek imitates a surfer and ends up crashing into a wall, allowing Mario and Yoshi to escape him. 考 えすぎだよマリオ2 ("You're overthinking it, Mario 2"):[B] while Yoshi continues to carry Baby Mario towards Baby Luigi, he eats a Koopa Paratroopa blocking their way, while still marching onwards. Baby Mario notices the strange onomatopoeia described around them (「スタスタ」, sutasuta, used for briskly paced walks without looking around) and asks the author who is "Sutasuta", visualizing a bizarre creature.- だいじょうぶ!
英訳 本 でないから ("It's ok! It's not the English translation"): Yoshi and Baby Mario come across a metamorphosis bubble. Yoshi asks what does "morph" mean. Baby Mario explains then about morphin, and how Micheal Jackson used it in the music video "Black or White" to appear as various people of different enticity and gender. Yoshi misunderstands the explanation, and comes to the conclusion that "morphing" is plastic surgery, opting to ignore the power-up. - うしろ
向 きに乗 ってる理由 ("The reason why he faces backwards"): Yoshi comes to a halt to avoid stepping on a Special Flower. This causes Baby Mario to slam his face into Yoshi's pointy crest. He then grabs a pair of shears to clip the spike off and avoid another similar accident. Scared, Yoshi comes with a solution: Baby Mario will now sit on the saddle facing backwards. 考 えすぎだよマリオ3 ("You're overthinking it, Mario 3"): continuing, Yoshi gulps down two Fangs while still running. Baby Mario notices the strange onomatopoeia described around them (「ダダダ」, dadada, used for running) and asks the author who is "dadada". A Shy Guy appears behind on a motorcycle, explaining that the sound was coming from his exhaust pipe.S フラワーとまちがえてなんとおまえにつっこんだことか ("I can't believe I mistook you for a Special Flower and called you as such!"): Yoshi and Baby Mario witness an Woozy Guy performing summersaults, and they clap for him. A Dizzy Dandy also appears to receive some applause too for its rolls, but Yoshi runs away instead to avoid getting run over.- ヘイホーの
素顔 って・・ ("Shy Guy's true face..."): Baby Mario decides to unmask a Stilt Guy to unveil their real face. The spooky face of a Lantern Ghost is revealed. Shocked, Mario puts the mask back on claiming "I'll pretend I didn't see that." 燃 えるヘイホー ("Burning Shy Guy"): to succeed where Stilt Guys, Stretches, and Fat Guys failed, a Shy Guy decides to cover himself in oil and to set himself on fire. Yoshi manages to evade it, but then the Shy Guy, starting to regret his decision, pleads him to eat him and put an end to his blazing suffering, but Yoshi refuses.- へたくそ! ("Dammit!"): sometimes Yoshi can miss something. It happens. Sometimes a Shy Guy is swapped with Baby Mario, or a Huffin Puffin can end up in the egg line, or a Little Mouser would steal one, or Kamek's Toadies might take away Baby Mario. It happens.
突然 ワンダちゃん2 ("Suddenly, Wanda 2"):[B] while riding the river in a bucket, Yoshi fails to notice the waterfall. And falling down, the bucket ends up getting stuck on his head. Just then, Wanda appears and strikes repeatedly her wand on the bucket to make him run faster, much to Yoshi's annoyance.- なぞなぞ ("Riddle"): Baby Mario poses a riddle to a Blargg: "Who would answer "yes" to the question "Are you a grandmother?"?" The Blargg gives up, disappointing Mario and leaving the mosnter confused.[C]
- へんなハナちゃん ("Strange Wigglers"): Baby Mario drew pictures of a Wiggler's life stages: caterpillar, cocoon, and butterfly. However, his version has the Wiggler with Yoshi's face. His justification being that, if they are in Yoshi's Island, it would be natural for the Wiggler to have a Yoshi-like face.
飲酒 はだめよ! ("Don't get drunk!"): Yoshi and Baby Mario are attacked by two Fuzzies. Yoshi eats them and starts acting like at a drunken party. When the effects wear off, Baby Mario asks to join in the fun, but Yoshi forbids it due to his age.- ギャンブルもだめよ! ("Same goes for gambling!"): after seeing Yoshi having fun with the Slot Machine and Roulette minigames, he asks once more to join in the fun, but Yoshi forbids it due to his age, giving him the safe but boring Match Cards minigame.
- その
名 はビックドンプリ ("His name is Burt the Bashful"): Yoshi and Baby Mario are fighting against Burt the Bashful. Yoshi identifies the boss as Mr. Saturn. Offended, Burt explains that Mr. Saturn does not wear any pants. Yoshi agrees, but Baby Mario says that Dekapan from Osomatsu-kun does, and he looks like the boss. More offended, Burt drops his pants to avoid being confused for someone else, but Yoshi flees in disgust since he is flashing in front of an infant. - しょうもないウル
技 ("Pointless technique"): if a player would try to throw an egg, he should know that he cannot do that while pushing objects like flower pots. - あらっぽいヨッシー ("Rough Yoshi"): after reaching a goal, a Yoshi passes Baby Mario to the next Yoshi. During one of these exchanges, a Bandit takes Baby Mario and flees. The first Yoshi is strangely calm, explaining to the other that he planted a bomb in a Baby Mario doll so he does not have to worry for Bandits. As he says this, the Bandit blow up in the distance.
- そのころクッパは? ("What is Baby Bowser doing?"): meanwhile, at King Bowser's Castle, Baby Bowser is taking care of Luigi. As he changes Luigi's diaper, Baby Bowser pleads that Mario comes quickly to rescue him, as he is not willing to deal with "golden showers".
目 かくしテレサ ("Blindfolded Boo"): to get over its species weaknesses, a Boo decides to put on a blindfold. It explains that way he can attack Mario without making eye contact with him, but Baby Mario replies that is already their modus operandi.- きゅうにデカくなりやがる ("It suddenly grew so big"): curious to discover if a Piranha Plant hides its legs or roots under its stem, Yoshi tries to uproot one of them, revealing a bandaged navel. The Piranha Plant calls Yoshi a "pervert" for doing so. Ashamed, Yoshi kneels asking for forgiveness. Taking advantage of that, the Piranha Plant gobbles him up.
寄 り道 はやめよう! ("Let's stop getting detours!"): Baby Mario grabs a Super Star and becomes Powerful Mario, while Yoshi ends up in a giant egg. Running around, Baby Mario spends so much time playing with the obstacles, until Yoshi (still inside the egg) yells at him to go towards the goal.子 どもってへんなものが好 き ("Kids like weird things"): Baby Mario finds a snake's shed skin and starts playing with it. Thinking he will have more fun, Yoshi too begins to shed. Seeing a Yoshi emerging from an old dried up Yoshi, Baby Mario gets scared and starts crying.- なめくじに
塩 ? ("Salt on a slug?"): while fighting against Sluggy the Unshaven, Yoshi throws salt at the boss, leaving Baby Mario confused, but Yoshi explains that, due to its slug nature, the boss will melt when in contact with salt. - バーチャルボーイはいかが? ("How about a Virtual Boy?"): a Koopa Troopa is now in the way of the heroes. He shows off that "Bowser" is in the latest console game (that being Virtual Boy's Mario's Tennis), but since he is depicted under Bowser's name, that makes him the King of the Koopas.[D] Yoshi and Baby Mario are left confused, but asks Koopa if he is in for a tennis match. He accepts, summoning Peach as his double partner.
- むりやりピーチ
登場 ("Peach's forced appearance"): Peach makes the first serving. As she hits the ball, she asks Yoshi if he is brave enough to hit a ball with "his master's face" on it. Angry that he has been demoted to Mario's slave, Yoshi responds to the service with a powerful swing that sends the ball deep into the ground on adversaries' side of the field. Scared by his strenght, Peach forfeits. - ゲーム
終了 ? ("Game's over?"): with Peach's forfeit, Koopa Troopa loses the match. Baby Mario happily announces that they "triumphed over Bowser", thus the game is over. As the credits start rolling, Kamek arrives telling them they still have to rescue Luigi. - ビックカチカチもこわかるもの ("Big, hard, and resilient things are also understandable"): chased by a Tap-Tap the Golden, Yoshi declares the resiliant enemy to be an unstoppable machine. So, Baby Mario deploys a mech of his own, the Mecha Toad. However, Tap-Tap the Golden runs it over, without flinching, prompting Yoshi to pull out the Mecha Peach. Scared by the imposing and firebreathing figure of Peach, the Tap-Tap runs away, as Peach laments this unfair portrayal by the audience.
- くちゲンカ ("Verbal argument"): Kamek is the next obstacle. He appears in front of the duo, calling them "belly button bastards". Yoshi takes offence to this, since he does not even have a belly button due to his reptile nature. Kamek retorts however that King K. Rool has a belly button and he is a crocodile, but Baby Mario responds that, since Donkey Kong Country was made by the Americans,[E] it is a result of their sloppyness. Kamek then retorts that Yoshi is still weird for being a male creature that lays eggs, but Baby Mario responds that everyone has already come to terms with it, ending by insulting Kamek's nose.
- ザンコクなお
子 さま ("Cruel child"): Kamek takes offense about the nose comment, so Baby Mario keeps going by calling it weird and delivering the final blow by stating that it looks more like a crane's than a turtle's. - ベビークッパ
敗 れる? ("Baby Bowser is defeated?"): morally worn out from all the bullying, Kamek leaves everything in Baby Bowser's hands, but he ends up falling asleep on the floor. Taking care of Baby Luigi the whole time has left him tired and exhausted. 巨大 クッパ逃 げ帰 る ("The giant Bowser runs away"): upset that his character was defeated this easily, Bowser stands up in the audience and makes his way towards the stage to teach Baby Mario's actor a lesson. Yoshi is ready to defeand the kid, but the audience start throwing trash at Bowser to stop him. It ends up working, as Bowser leaves the theater in a huff.大団円 ("The grand finale"): for the final scene, the freed Stork takes Baby Mario and Baby Luigi towards their new home. In the bundle, Mario laments that Yoshi had to eat a lot of things in the journey while he did not get to eat anything. Luigi explains that with all the milk he drank at Baby Bowser's he grew taller. With peace returning to Yoshi's Islands, the actors reunite on the stage for the final bow.武闘 家 ピーチ ("Martial artist Peach"): behind the scenes, Peach compliments and hugs Baby Mario's actor for his acting skill. Toad arrives and, seeing the scene, asks if the baby is Peach's secret child. In response, Peach delivers a punch that sends Toad flying, upset that his only screentime was just for this.新 ゲーム① ("New Game 1"): in the following skits, fanartist proposes new game idea for the franchise. The first is a game called "Peach & Daisy Sisters Big Adventure", a game in which Peach and Daisy enters a world for only girls to save a race of fairies. While Peach and Daisy are fond of the idea, hearing that the latter would be included, Luigi tries to sneak into the game's cast by crossdressing.新 ゲーム② ("New Game 2"): Mario has made a sport career by starting as a judge and referee, and only recently he started to play sports such as golf and tennis. Therefore, next summer, might be the right time to do a "Mario Beachvolley 64".新 ゲーム③ ("New Game 3"): despite these fake hopes, Mario does state that a RPG game is in the works. Peach and Daisy are baffled, especially by the strange art proposed, but Luigi reassures that the artstyle is as quirky as the fanart.See You Again ! ("See you again!"): speaking of the devil, the postman arrives with a letter regarding the latest development news on the RPG game. Mario eagerly opens it, only to be left shocked by the news: Birdo is set to appear in it.

Hearing this, Lakitu decide to apply for the referee role.- ああかんちがい ("Oh, what a misunderstanding"): Yoshi is about to serve, but he fails the shot as his whole racket is chomped off. As Yoshi "tastes" more to see which are better, Koopa Troopa explains to him that this is not how the game is supposed to be played.
冷 たいマリオ ("Cold Mario"): the characters decide to play a match in double teams. Yoshi pairs up with Koopa Troopa, Peach with Toad, and Mario with Luigi. Only Donkey Kong Jr. is without a partner. Seeing this, Mario goes up to him, puts a hand on his shoulder... and tells him to go home.- ちがうちがうそうじゃない ("No, that's not a rule"): after agreeing with playing one match against Donkey Kong Jr., he compliments Mario for his tennis skill. Mario insists that, if he really thinks so, he should become his apprentice. Junior agrees and returns wearing Luigi's outfit, much to his annoyance.

問題 ("Wario's mischievious problem"): Mario tries out Wario's picross puzzle, but he is baffled in discovering there is no roulette to fill a random row and column, and also there are no correctors. Wario claims that this makes it harder, while Mario mutters that is because he does not know the solution either. Hearing that, Wario starts chasing Mario with a mallet. - サテ
坊 & バラ坊 のテーマソング ("Satebô & Parabô's theme song"): the last Igaiga's 4-koma is a theme song for the Satellaview's mascots Satebô & Parabô. Suddenly, the two stops, noticing that putting together their names does not result in "Satellaview", so Satebô suggests to his partner to rename himself Laviewbô. While he agrees on the idea, Mario kicks them out of the comic for wasting time for the author's last skit.

わがままピーチ
- ヨッシーアイランド ("Yoshi's Island"): the chapter is another one based on Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, but it is strangely drawn in a childish manner. Footnotes and references[edit]
Footnotes[edit]
- ^ Yoshi interprets the "M" on the cap as the initial for「みどりヨッシー」(Midori Yosshī, "Green Yoshi").
- ^ a b As the manga reminds, this title a nod to another skit from the first volume.
- ^ One of the few ways to say grandmother in Japanese is「ばあば」(baaba). The riddle's solution is a play on word on Blargg's Japanese name, which is「ウンババ」(Unbaba).
- ^ Bowser's Japanese name is Kuppa, which international became his surname and the Turtle Tribe species name (in Japanese, "Koopa Troopa" is Nokonoko).
- ^ This is false: Rareware, a British company, developed the game. The author also states in a note "It's a comment from baby, don't get upset, Americans."
- ^ While Hoskins and Leguizamo say「見にきてくださ〜い」(Mini kite kudasai, "Go and watch it, please"), Hopper accidentally says「見にきて クマさ〜ん」(Mini kite, kuma-san, "Go and watch it, Mr. Bear").
- ^ The tongue twister in question would be「ルイージが
土管 に ドカン!!」(Ruīji ga Dokan ni Dokan!!, "Luigi slams into a pipe!"). - ^ It's a series of play on words: Kamek is asking for a「
赤 ん坊 」(akanbō, "baby"), but his Todies bring a「マンボウ」(manbō, "sunfish"), a「ドロボウ」(dorobō, "thief"), and a「きかんぼう」(kikanbō, "stubborn" or "naught kid"). - ^ Kamek now asks for a「ベビー」(bebī, "baby"), but his Todies bring a「ルビー」(rubī, "ruby"), a「エビ」(ebi, "shrimp"), a「オビ」(obi, "obi"), and a「ヘビ」(hebi, "snake").
