(Translation: A mummified Koopa Troopa? It keeps moving forward, making its bones go "karankoron". No matter how many times you stomp it, it keeps coming back to life.)
  • Nintendo Power Strategy Guide: A mummified zombie Koopa which comes back to life after you stomp it.[page number needed]

Dry Bones Enemy Some enemies just won't rest in peace! These boney Koopas will pace back and forth endlessly. When you stomp them, they'll collapse into a dusty pile. However, they will rebuild themselves a short while later. Dry Bones are immune to fire power, but you can use ice power to encase them in a cube and throw them aside.

    Super Mario Run[edit]

    • Notebook description: "This bunch of bones was once a turtle. Stomping it will make it crumble, but it'll pop back up after a bit."

If possible, ignore it and move on

Is it really the skeleton of a turtle defeated by Mario? If you have a cape, it can be defeated, but even if you step on it normally and break its bones, it will revive again after a while. The Dry Bones in World also throws bones.

Tattle That's a Dry Bones. It's a former Koopa whose spirit animates its bones. Eeeeeek! That's so freaky! Max HP is 8, Attack is 5, and Defense is 2. When its HP goes down to 0, it collapses into a pile, but it'll eventually rise again. Fire and explosions will put a permanent end to it getting back up, though. A Dry Bones will sometimes build friends if it feels it's outnumbered. If you don't take them all out close together, they'll just keep coming back. Let's wipe them out all at once, and quick! These things totally freak me out!

A skeletal member of the Koopa Troopa family. Immune to fireballs, Dry Bones will fall apart when stomped upon, then reassemble moments later. They're typically found in dungeon levels in Mario games but have also been known to participate in various sports and activities such as baseball, kart racing, and soccer. They're likely boning up on the competition.

They must have a bone to pick with Mario. No matter how many times he stomps them, these guys put themselves back together again. Can't they just rest in pieces? By the way, have you noticed how nimble they are in Mario Kart? Skeletons must be really aerodynamic or something... (American English)
How these guys are alive when they're just bones is anyone's guess. Jump on one to make it fall apart, but don't expect it to rest in pieces! It'll be back on its feet in no time. These oddly cute little guys also turn up in the Mario Kart series as lightweight racers. Probably because they don't have any skin or muscles weighing them down. (British English)

Dry Bones crumbles into a pile of dust and bones when you stomp on its head, but these skeletal Koopas always manage to put themselves back together.[5]
