A Super Guide Block is a special green block coming from New Super Mario Bros. Wii. It is similar to a ! Block in which it has a yellow exclamation mark on it. The Super Guide Block will appear when the player has lost eight lives consecutively in the same level. If Mario hits the block, the Super Guide mode will be activated and Luigi will appear, while the computer within the game controls him to clear the stage in place of the user. If the player presses the 1 button of the Wii Remote, the player may choose to deactivate the Super Guide mode, so the player will take control of Luigi. However, if the level is beaten, it won't count as a true win. The player may choose to do the level again (as Mario). If not, the player must choose whether going further or not (the level space remains red, even when he may go further).
