The Factory is an industrial and mechanical area. It features many new elements not seen in the game's previous worlds, such as moving platforms that tilt, conveyor belts, and many robotic constructions that can hinder or help the Kongs. There are platforms that can crush Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong and there are also platforms that disappear and reappear when certain switches are touched. The environment contains numerous references to the arcade Donkey Kong game, namely blue ladders and girders. The area is also unique because in the fifth, sixth, and seventh levels, players need to find a giant red switch. They cannot progress through the game otherwise.

The Factory is extremely complex. As the Kongs journey throughout the early levels of the Factory, vegetation is seen growing in the warehouses and buildings, there are also large windows that show out side of the Factory, much like Slammin' Steel. Lift-off Launch shows a large jungle area outside the factory, showing that the area the Factory was built on could have once been like the Jungle the game begins in. Later levels rarely show plant life, and are mostly dark desolate rooms filled with giant mechanics, such as pile drivers, hammers, gears, pipes, and robotic hands that are used for various means of work. There is also a space ship station that is used in order to reach the factory buildings where Colonel Pluck is located.

“I love this place. Brings back the memories, it does.”
Cranky Kong, Donkey Kong Country Returns

The Factory is the seventh world of Donkey Kong Country Returns and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D. It can be accessed after defeating Thugly, the boss of the Cliff. It is located on Donkey Kong Island, and is a very industrial area. During the events of the game, it is infested by members of the Tiki Tak Tribe who have stolen Donkey Kong's banana hoard. The Factory shares similarities to Kremkroc Industries, Inc. from Donkey Kong Country, and features arranged music from said place. When asked if they were the same location, senior designer Kynan Pearson approved of the idea.[1]

When the Kongs first arrive in the Factory, the entire area is covered in a thick blanket of smoke. Only by activating the fans in Foggy Fumes, the Factory's first level, will the smoke be blown away.

As the Kongs journey throughout the early levels of the Factory, vegetation is seen growing in the warehouses and buildings, and there are also large windows that show outside of the Factory, much like Slammin' Steel. There is also a space station that is used in order to reach the factory buildings where Colonel Pluck is located.

The enemies in this world are mainly robotic and attack by using fire or electricity, or by exploding.

In Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, the level Frozen Frenzy takes place inside an abandoned version of the Factory world.
